Prince Harry touched down in the UK without Meghan, Archie, or Lilibet after a chaotic breakdown over his offer to stay at Buckingham Palace. King Charles had given Harry a deadline of last Friday to accept the accommodation, but Harry initially declined, then changed his mind hours later over the weekend. By then, the Palace said it was logistically impossible to proceed as staffing and hospitality arrangements had already been stood down.
The drama went public when Harry's team briefed outlets including the BBC that he would be staying at Buckingham Palace, citing direct discussions with the King. Within minutes, Palace sources pushed back, saying Harry had simply failed to respond in time. Harry's spokesman fired back with a statement calling the withdrawal "disappointing" and accusing the Palace of pulling the offer at the last moment, while also pointing to a court judgment as a cited reason for the pullback.
Meghan and the children stayed behind after a separate request for additional security was turned down. The family had been on holiday in Europe, possibly at their Portugal villa.
