Every Tuesday we deliver a small, handcrafted batch of stories by top-notch writers — tales from the frontline of dating over 40, books, movies and music we know you’ll dig, tales of people who found the courage to “come out” and be themselves. Stories of s*x, health, beauty, love, aging, family and more.
Whether you love this time of year or struggle with the holidays, we’ve pulled 6 stories from our archives to help get you thru it.
Stay gold, TueNighters.
The temps are dropping, our fellow Gen-X sisters are wrapping up the year, and we're in the midst of peak holiday season. Whether you love this time of year or struggle with the holidays, we've pulled 6 stories from our archives to help get you through it.
We're thrilled to feature writer, editor and bold lip enthusiast Liz Henry in this week's TueNight 10.
Your Age: 41 Basic bio: Liz is the writer behind the weekly newsletter, Flop Era. She spent six years as a senior editor at Scary Mommy and later Bustle Digital Group. Diet Coke is her one and only true love. Beyond the bio: One thing no one tells you about being middle age is, you can probably rent...
What Margit said! Can't wait to hang with Omisade Osunfunke Burney-Scott, Mimi Ison, Crafty Chica by Kathy Cano-Murillo, Melody Godfred, Ophira Eisenberg and all of our sisters TOMORROW! And can we please talk about Margit's badass lip color?!?

We're thrilled to spotlight TueNight featured storyteller, creator of the Black Girls’ Guide to Surviving Menopause Podcast, the ah-mazing Omisade Osunfunke Burney-Scott.
Her first marriage had also made her something she had not been before: a mom. It breaks my heart that she was separated from her children — my eldest brother, Michael, and my sister, Patrice — the first babies she held in her body that she would have to leave behind to save her own life. Whom s...
As part of TueNight's Coast-To-Coast Online Virtual House Party on Dec. 13th — TueNighters are sharing their stories of what it means to be a daughter through the lens of aging.
Kicking us off this week is TueNight featured storyteller and midlife pro-aging blogger, Mimi Ison.
“An only child who’s been dethroned” is one description I’ve read that explains the oldest child. I get it: parents serve you like you’re a princess until a sibling shows up, and then they sn**ch the crown off your head and stomp on it.
This week's featured story: We're throwing it back to the year award-winning author Taiia Smart Young took a risk and said "yes" to something that scared the crap out of her.
By Taiia Smart-Young I’ll allow Shonda Rhimes to take credit for inventing the year of yes (YOY). This TV titan did make it famous, but let the record show that I invented the concept before Rhimes’ book with the same name became an instant bestseller.
TueNight is celebrating #1 daughters with a FREE online storytelling house party December 13, 2022. Click over and RSVP for the link.

You'll still get the weekly TueDo List delivered to your inbox every Tuesday — but by becoming a paid subscriber, you’ll be able to:
— Comment on weekly threads
— Participate in conversations
— Stay connected with each other
— Access exclusive Gen-X tailored content, monthly events, AMAs and more.

We had such a great chat with psychotherapist and author of "How To Break Up With Your Friends" Erin Falconer about midlife friendships.
Our biggest takeaways:
— Margit and Erin discussed how setting boundaries can actually nurture friendships.
— We learned how to identify friendships that give us energy rather than take energy away from us.
It was a really insightful chat — in case you missed it, you can catch the FULL replay here: https://tuenight.substack.com/p/video-how-to-break-up-with-your-friends

How To Negotiate With the Confidence Of a Mediocre White Man
We had such a great time hosting our TueNight Live event, last week.
Here, 49yo TueNighter, Tracey Lynn Lloyd told us about what she learned when borrowing the confidence from a “Mediocre White Man” (MWM) during an interview and wage negotiation:
"It's okay for me to ask for what I want. And it's okay for me not to be absolutely perfect in every interview. I may not be a MWM, but I'll definitely be using their confidence to get what I want from the workplace."
How would you finish this sentence: "No one would say ________ to a man my age." Let us know in the comments below!

Why is perimenopause so misunderstood?
Earlier this year, we sat down and chatted with longtime community health advocate Denise Pines — she shared some excellent (and really important) information with us to help #GenX understand and prepare for menopause.
October is #MenopauseAwarenessMonth, so we thought it would be a good idea to help keep the conversation going and share our FULL interview with Denise, here.
It also gives our community a valuable opportunity to draw attention to the portrayal of menopause, which often casts this time of change (and older women) in a negative light.
We're also sharing a roundup of perimenopause stories and important menopause resources on TueNight.com: https://bit.ly/3meQl97.
Stay cool, #TueNighters ― we got this!

We love sharing amazing stories with our community of grown-ass women and our chat with Theo Kogan and Jeanne Fury during our TueNighter Tea was definitely the highlight of last week.
We chatted about their new book "Fallopian Rhapsody: The Story of the Lunachicks" about a band of #GrownAssWomen telling their story honestly, freely, and unafraid - here's a snippet of Theo reading an excerpt from their book:
"Pooping, farting, burping, and getting our periods feature in a bunch of our songs. Never in a million years did we think a f**king fart would be considered a political statement, but for women especially shame is associated with body stuff."
There were so many more behind the veil moments you don't want to miss — dive into our no-holds-barred chat about the Lunachicks up on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEkRw_u3paI

How To Talk to Kids About Race
We had such an awesome time chatting with Uju Asika during our TueNighter Tea, last week — Uju shared fantastic advice on how (and when) to talk to kids about race:
"Your child is getting so many messages from society, about who matters more and who deserves more, so it's really important for parents to be proactive and start talking."
There were so many more moving and profound moments you don't want to miss — you can catch more great tips, along with our entire chat with Uju, up on our YouTube channel, linked here: https://bit.ly/3w8zlF4 #TueNighters

For your listening enjoyment this evening. I find it interested how her voice/vocal range starts out higher--more girly and sweet, but then switches to her deeper range--lower, full- bodied woman range. Madonna's voice does this, too.

My 12 year old has lost her fu***ng mind. She just came into my office to ask for help with a pdf file for a project...I told her the pdf doesn't work the way she wants it to work...like my real world experience with pdf files that I use and send, all day, every day. She proceeded to tell me to f**k off (yes, the words came out of her mouth). I yelled back that she should also f**k off (I know, not good Mom behavior) so she slammed the door and I could see her through the window flip me off. What do I do with that? And how long am I making the excuse that she's going through puberty in the middle of a pandemic and hasn't left the house in months? FFS.
POETRY! Maybe it can't save the world, but, boy, it sure can express complicated thoughts about the gifts and burdens of being human in a beautiful way. All that is to say:
POETRY TONIGHT on Grown-Ass Lady Bedtime Stories! Stephanie Gangi will read a beautiful piece that has a lot of resonance to our times. Please join us on FB live, HERE, tonight at 8pm/ET!
OMG, I read Lauren Young's essay about Camp and now I'm totally crying. She NAILED every feeling I've ever had about Camp. I would have never made it through my teens if I hadn't found my tribe at Northeast Music Camp. And now my son is reaching the age where he may want to go...I'm a puddle.
“Beauty pageants early in their histories, some dating back to the 1920s, barred women of color from participating. Even after organizations began changing their rules to accept women of all races, there was still a lingering frustration and opposition to join.”
Anyone see the HBO documentary called Jane Fonda in Five Acts? I found it fascinating. Very well done. I learned a lot about her I never knew and came away with a deep respect of her. Intelligent, passionate, compassionate, self-reflective and now putting her authentic self first. Inspiring. I highly recommend it!
To go along with all the other 90's memories...
Hi all, I can't use my two tickets for Courtney Barnett at Celebrate Brooklyn @ Prospect Park next Wednesday. Let me know if you want them! ($40 each)
Her latest album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, is brilliant and tackles everything from Internet trolls to . Even if you can't go to the show I highly recommend checking it out.
I think I can get down with this.
What the actual Eff? Am I missing something here? This is crazy!
And this popped up on my feed.....can we say Georgia O’Keefe?
Speaking of Fleabag...
When you meet the unbelievably talented and hilarious Phoebe Waller-Bridge, you give her a wiener. 🌭🙂
If you've seen her incredible show, Fleabag, you know why. If you haven't... Get. On. It!
P.S. She told me I was her heroine. What??!! Day made. 🙂
