If you’ve been looking for a space to engage with other community members on what solidarity looks like and create visuals for your personal stories on the pursuit of liberation, join us for this first gathering that will encourage us to look at the world around us and explore how we can deepen our connection to it.

The first workshop led by will get you thinking about what colonial aspects influence your interpretation of color and the ways in which these perceptions influence our environment.

We will then create a zine piece representing our solidarity through the use of color that we’ll combine to create the first issue of the sowing solidarity series. Supplies will be provided but please feel free to bring anything you’d like to use.

“This is what believing looks like!” 🇯🇲 Jamaican-American actress Sheryl Lee Ralph moved us with her speech on pushing for your dreams even when the odds are against you.

She started her career in 1977 in the comedy sphere with this being her first nomination and win of an Emmy since then.

To make it even better, Sheryl’s dress was created by a Jamaican owned brand !!

It was truly a moment that we’re all about here at Bruk Out 💃🏽

We are curating a show if Caribbean artists set to run from July to September here in NYC with works that showcase Caribbean identity whether in terms of the self or community. Work must use intentional styling, fabric, and/or other textiles in the representation of this. To submit, please visit the link in our bio no later than Wednesday June 15th. We think about it often, how our lives exist in parallels. One of what could have been, one of where we are.

Imagine the yearning for a simplicity out parents and grandparents ran from. Dreaming of the fast pace and network that we anticipate disconnecting from.
