Turkey Moves To Extend Restrictions On LGBTQ+ Rights.

The new bill in Turkey proposes to amend existing Article 225 of the Turkish Penal Code, which would increase the legal age for gender affirming surgery from 18 to 25, prohibit trans people from being married, and require that they be sterilized. The bill also states that anyone who performs illegal surgeries for trans people faces imprisonment of three to seven years and a judicial fine.

Pennsylvania has elected its first trans mayor, Erica Deuso, marking another historic win for LGBTQ+ communities in PA and beyond.

According to The Washington Blade, Deuso’s campaign didn’t centralize her LGBTQ+ identity. Instead, Deuso campaigned on issues affecting Downingtown most, like public safety, environmental resilience, and town infrastructure.

The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a request to consider overturning the historic Obergefell v. Hodges decision that legalized same-sex marriage in the United States.

The refusal to revisit the case marks a huge success for LGBTQ+ Americans, especially after the Trump Administration has put limiting LGBTQ+ rights at the front of its political agenda. Mary Bonauto, the attorney who argued in favor of Obergefell in the 2015 same-sex marriage case, said in a statement: "Millions of Americans can breathe a sigh of relief for their families, current or hoped for, because all families deserve equal rights under the law."

Everyone’s favorite q***r pop star, Chappell Roan, launched The Midwest Princess Project last month to raise funds for trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.

Roan shared a statement via an Instagram post late last month, writing: "These funds will be donated to an incredible organization making a positive impact for trans youth in their communities." Already, the initiative has raised more than $400,000 in donations from Roan’s 2025 "Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things" pop-up show tour.
