MediacsBooks is proud to announce the publication of a new children's book, Julius, which is now available on Amazon:

Julius is a true story about a proud cat who is very jealous of the attention given to a new family addition, baby Amanda — an emotion shared by many siblings, homo sapiens and pets.

The book was born over 25-years-ago at the SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology in 1997. “I always wanted to be an illustrator,” says the author, Susan Conklin. “So I audited a Children’s Literature course at the SUNY college in Cobleskill, New York, and wrote and illustrated the book while taking the course.”

While Julius was trying to adjust to the new family reality, a doctor informed Amanda’s parents that their daughter might have a cat allergy. Susan inherited Julius shortly thereafter. He lived until the ripe old age of 16.

The book is dedicated to Ted, the author’s husband, and to Max, her nephew. Max was six-years-old when Susan asked him to comment on the book. “Max was very helpful,” Susan recalls, “especially with the language of the book.”

Susan and her daughter Margi asked Mediacs to reproduce 10-copies of Julius which Susan had handcrafted in 1979. But after reading Julius, Mediacs decided that such a delightful and instructive children’s book should be made available to a wider audience.

Mediacs is pleased to announce the publication of Alexa Stuart Frisbie's "Secrets of Your Child's Education."

Alexa Stuart Frisbie’s new book provides parents with a timely and practical guide to what all children need to be happy and successful as they learn. In her book, Ms. Frisbie, herself
an award-winning teacher, teacher-trainer and parent, describes hidden causes for lackluster education — from teacher-bullies to disconnected curriculum — and practical fixes parents can
use to hurdle over them. “The school system, even with the best of intentions,” says the author, “can fail your child. My book will enable parents to understand common issues to help their
children.”

Shunned by Copperfield Posted on November 23, 2020 These children I love because they are children I love them.  This girl, this boy, a safe haven in a cottage in New Amsterdam in the year of our Lord, 1650, thirteen of us together under a thatched roof. We came by sloop along the coast and then do...

Mediacs is pleased to announce publication of Josh Wickom's, "Mind Intruders." When mild-mannered Josh Wickom retired from a successful engineering career, he and his beloved wife Ruth anticipated a senior life of renewed romance and exotic vacations. Instead, they and their two adult children were plunged into a three-year nightmare when two powerful mind intruders hijacked John’s existence. First came Colden, a deeply-depressed paranoid intent on ending his own life. Then came Wick, a flamboyant concert promoter fueled by electroshock therapy-induced mania and grandiose illusions.
Unable to regain control of his own life, Josh watched helplessly as Coldon and Wick steered him on a wild ride from bucolic Central New York State, to the steamy Mississippi Delta and New York City — with stops along the way in the county jail, a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, and divorce court.

Josh’s ability to objectively observe and record what was happening —his scientific training — is what makes his memoir such a compelling read. It may also in part explain his eventual recovery.

In the tradition of Willian Styron’s "Darkness Visible" and Marya Hornbacher’s "Madness: A Bipolar Life, and with a touch of Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Josh Wickom’s "Mind Intruders" documents the true-life story of an ordinary individual’s harrowing struggle to exorcise the malignant invaders who hijacked his life.

BECOMING A WRITER; A Memoir & Workbook by Carol Bergman

© copyright by Carol Bergman 2020

Anyone can publish these days but how do we know when we have written something worthwhile? Where is our audience and why would this imagined audience want to read what we have written? Does it matter? Shall we continue writing regardless of financial success, recognition, or pandemics? What does it mean to be a writer, to follow the path of admired writers, and to lead a sustainable writing life? In Becoming a Writer, Carol Bergman, an award winning writer and writing teacher, answers these questions. She has been teaching writing workshops at Gotham Writers Workshop and NYU since 1997, and has many inspiring and useful ideas for both mentors and aspiring writers.

A Campaign Targeting Our Staff | The New York Times Company

Good Morning Writers, Students, Former Students, Friends of Writers, Friend of Mediacs. In lieu of a blog post this morning--and there are recent ones to read here--I am re-posting a message from the publisher of the NY Times. It is our mandate as writers, reporters and publishers to take heed: our free press is under attack. Our response to such an attack can only be more "speech," not less. Speak boldly. Write boldly. Persist. Resist.

A note to staff by New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger calling attention to a Times story about a campaign led by President Trump’s allies intended to harass and embarrass individuals affiliated with several leading news organizations.

COMING SOON FROM MEDIACS PUBLISHING

In this expanded edition of SAY NOTHING, rookie Private Investigator Alison Jenkins, recently returned from deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan to her home in Ulster County, NY, teams up with her mentor, PI Margaret Singer, to solve the disappearance of a decorated veteran. Not far into the investigation, the detectives realize that the young man’s disappearance is only one of several related crimes committed in their jurisdiction and that the FBI has taken a controlling interest in the case and invoked the Patriot Act. When David’s girlfriend and a young Iranian girl are found murdered, the case becomes even more complex. At each turn in the investigation, the sense of danger intensifies. A political thriller, a murder mystery, and a meditation on the futility of war, SAY NOTHING will twist its way into your psyche and not let go.
