MediacsBooks is proud to announce the publication of a new children's book, Julius, which is now available on Amazon:
Julius is a true story about a proud cat who is very jealous of the attention given to a new family addition, baby Amanda — an emotion shared by many siblings, homo sapiens and pets.
The book was born over 25-years-ago at the SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology in 1997. “I always wanted to be an illustrator,” says the author, Susan Conklin. “So I audited a Children’s Literature course at the SUNY college in Cobleskill, New York, and wrote and illustrated the book while taking the course.”
While Julius was trying to adjust to the new family reality, a doctor informed Amanda’s parents that their daughter might have a cat allergy. Susan inherited Julius shortly thereafter. He lived until the ripe old age of 16.
The book is dedicated to Ted, the author’s husband, and to Max, her nephew. Max was six-years-old when Susan asked him to comment on the book. “Max was very helpful,” Susan recalls, “especially with the language of the book.”
Susan and her daughter Margi asked Mediacs to reproduce 10-copies of Julius which Susan had handcrafted in 1979. But after reading Julius, Mediacs decided that such a delightful and instructive children’s book should be made available to a wider audience.
