"My mom was diagnosed with a rare cancer last fall. It was a complete shock. There is no cancer in our family history. None.
She’s been visiting me from Croatia for almost a month now. Last week on a morning walk, I said to her: 'I feel bad that you’re spending so much of your time here just cleaning after the kids and cooking for all of us. I want you to enjoy yourself!'
My mom responded: 'I am enjoying myself! I enjoy every moment.'
'There’s no way you enjoy cleaning, mom! No one enjoys cleaning!' I said.
'Kristina, I didn’t think I'd be here today. I didn’t think I'd ever see my grandchildren or you again. So yes, I enjoy cleaning. I enjoy every moment I get here.'
I want to live like that. I want to enjoy even the most mundane parts of life.
Why does it take something as big as a cancer diagnosis to get us to appreciate every single moment we have on this earth?"

“Today a lady and her mother and husband came in to our Home Depot telling us that the insurance company may or may not pay for their little boy’s walker, so they went on the internet and found plans to make one out of PVC pipe. My store manager heard about this and we went over to them looked at their plans and said, ‘We got this.’ So, we started putting it together told the family to go and enjoy ice cream and come back in an hour.
Other associates started jumping in and when the family came back it was done. Everyone was crying to see Logan walk around with the biggest smile on his face.
When the family tried to pay us, we said, ‘No way this one is on us.’
Thanks to all that help and for being a blessing to this family and to this little guy.”

We brought our tree in last night, and my girl went straight over and sat under it like she already knew she was my Christmas gift! 😆✨🎄💖 When we rescued her, I had to convince my husband to let me keep her by saying she could be my gift, so he wouldn’t have to buy me anything this year. He totally agreed! 🤣 She was just meant to be with us.

In a quiet corner of Germany, bags of food are discreetly hung for those in need—the poor, the hungry, and the vulnerable. There are no public displays or fanfare, no cameras or videos to capture the act. It’s simply an unspoken gesture of goodwill and service, done with humility and compassion. This quiet kindness, absent of any need for recognition, serves as a powerful reminder that true generosity often goes unseen, yet its impact is deeply felt.

I went to feed them and saw that mom was gone, she was dead... Of course after this picture we're going home!!!! I adopted 5 babies today!!! Because those eyes said a lot... Because these eyes asked for love, protection... Because animals have souls just like we do. They deserve families guys! We also deserve a little more love in our lives...

"I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes crazy from their kids asking for every single thing they see in a grocery store. I tell them no lots, but I think naturally kids just see and ask. Well, to distract them from this I started letting them pick out one can for the food bank - any can they choose - every time we go to the store, and they love it!
They put so much thought into what can, they carry the can to the till, hand it to the cashier, and then put it in the food bank bin. My daughter likes to explain to people what the food bank is for. We have done this for our last five trips to the store and not once have they asked for something! And they are helping the food bank in the process.
I know this won't last forever, but if anyone has a 2 or 4-year-olds like me, I recommend trying it! Maybe when they get older I can turn it into a challenge (find a can that starts with the letter 'c' or find a vegetable)."

I’m a house mom in a sober living home for women. This is my little side of the bedroom I share. I have made it my little small space to call my own for now. I am so gratful I am able to support these ladies and freely help them, as I was so freely given the help and support I needed when I was sick.🥰

In Argentina, there's a restaurant called Restobar Dickens, with a sign saying:
"We ask all our customers with all our hearts not to be upset by the number of stray dogs that may be in the restaurant.
We are a pet friendly place and we give water, food and lots of love to these sweet angels.
I'm sorry if it bothers you, but they're not doing anything wrong, they're just looking for food or shelter.
Thank you very much!"

I don’t get bothered by people very often. Being 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, an ex-Marine, and a former boxer, I have a commanding presence. Plus, with 13 years of experience as an umpire, I know how to carry myself with authority.
But one memorable incident happened not too long ago while I was walking my dog early one dark morning in Old Montreal. Out of nowhere, a tall, disheveled man came charging at me, screaming and waving his arms. Before I could react, my 35-pound lab-border collie mix jumped in front of me and unleashed a 100-pound bark that stopped him in his tracks and sent him running for his life.
Stella, my "labradollie," is normally a shy and gentle soul. She was five years old at the time, and I never imagined she’d step up like that. But apparently, she sees protecting me as one of her many responsibilities—she’d just never had the chance to show it before.
Here’s a photo of Stella at a Michigan football game, proving she’s not just fierce but also a loyal, all-around amazing companion.

This is my father, together with Robin, the cat we had at home for 17 years. When we saw them sleeping so tenderly, we rushed to get the camera.
This is the last photo of my father; that very evening, he left us forever, taking a piece of our hearts with him.
You won't believe it, but this is also the last photo of Robin; exactly two nights later, he left us too.
We are sure there is a meaning to all of this, that Robin, who was very attached to my father, chose to follow him, unable to bear the separation.
Now we imagine them still like this, wrapped in an embrace that nothing and no one can ever separate."💞

Let me tell you a little story about the circle of life.
Yesterday, my 80-year-old mom told my nearly 50-year-old self to bring my laundry upstairs. Then, she instructed me how to clean a pot I've had for two decades. And then, when I was packing a few boxes for returns, she reminded me to make sure I blacked-out the labels or else the post office wouldn't know what to scan.
And that's when I responded with, "Mom! This isn't the first time I've done this, you know!"
She just laughed at me and drank her tea and rearranged her magic purse that has everything in it from medicine for every ailment and tissues to nail clippers and candy.
I don't know why I responded so curtly. I guess I just was tired and didn't want to be told what to do.
The irony wasn't lost on me when throughout the day, I said things to my teenagers like, "Hey, did you send in that form yet?" and "Take your coat upstairs" and "OMG! Put that bowl in the dishwasher."
And each time, they responded with the obligatory, "I know, Mom!"
I would laugh at their exasperation and return to what I was doing.
Last night, my 16-year-old and I went to the wake of a lovely woman who happened to be the grandmother of my daughter's best friend.
As I hugged my friend, the mom to my daughter's bestie and the daughter of the deceased, I watched as one of her kids brought a pair of tweezers back to her.
She explained, "As we were coming here, I just started throwing everything in my purse that I thought I would need, just in case. Of course, one of the kids needed them. My mom always did that for us."
And I couldn't help thinking about grandmas and their special purses, and how mothers show their love.
Sometimes we show it by nagging--or gently reminding--about looming deadlines and chores that need to be done.
Sometimes it's by setting rules and boundaries to keep them safe.
Sometimes it's by doing laundry when your child--no matter what their age--doesn't have the time or cooking a special meal or changing sheets.
Sometimes it's laughing off a snarky comment.
And sometimes, it's simply being there, saying nothing at all.
The universe showed me something pretty special yesterday.
It reminded me of all the love I give and receive throughout the small details of my life, and how lucky I am to have it spread through three generations right now.
A mother's love is rarely shown in grand gestures, but if we're lucky, woven into a lifetime of small, meaningful moments of kindness and selflessness and generosity that knows no bounds.
And when the time comes, in the magic purses grandmothers carry--when these grand women start slowing down but still want to be there for their family.
Until it's time to pass that tradition on to the mothers coming after.
Love your people hard today, in whatever small ways you can show it. Treasure the ways they show their love to you. Don't take one second for granted ♥️

My friend Tara told me I should post my latest quilt on here. So here is my canning jar quilt I just finished. I used a wood grain look fabric to make it look like shelving, and on the back I used "homespun" fabric because most folks who like to can are a little home spun themselves! I put a jar of Chexmix on the top shelf to make it look like I was hiding it from the kids! Hope you enjoy♥️

"I've been slowly decorating for Christmas 2023. This area is my mudroom. I decided to do something fun for my grandchildren! 🎅I had an old pair of polka-dot rain boots so I spray painted them black and added a fur top to it. The fur is from the dollar tree. It's actually for the duster mops but it works for what I wanted. I just added a little hot glue and there ya have it, santa boots!"♥️

This weekend I went to visit my son at Fort Benning with my daughter and mother. He is at basic training and it was family weekend. He loves sushi, so we found a Japanese restaurant. We probably ordered $100 worth of food and when we went to pay, the waitress said that the people at the other table had picked up or bill and they said to thank your son for his service. They were gone before I found this out, but I happened to snap a picture of my son that had one of the people in the background. I don't know who she is, but I can tell you that it meant the world to us. We will find a way to pay it forward.
