For more than 50 years VSW has provided time, space and resources for artists from all over the world to expand their practice and continue ongoing projects. The Project Space Residency is rooted in our mission to provide support to experimental photo, film and media art artists who are expanding their mediums. This year, guest jurors included Aspen Mays (Artist, Associate Professor, California College of Art, Project Space Resident 2022), Le’Andra LeSeur (Artist, Tulsa Artist Fellow 2024-2026, Project Space Resident 2023), and Nando Alvarez-Perez (editor-in-chief, Cornelia Magazine and VSW Project Space Resident 2017).

VSW Project Space Residencies are supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the New York State Legislature, Monroe County, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and Joy of Giving Something. Photography artists participating in the program receive support from the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation

I met Jerry Jones through friends in local theatre. I cast him along with Amy & Eric in this short film. Jerry made me laugh whether I watched him from the back row of a theatre or a camera four feet from his nose. He was my first leading man & I am forever grateful to have worked with him. 50 years ago today, David Bowie had his mugshot taken by the Rochester Police Department in 1976. Bowie was arrested in a downtown Rochester hotel after performing at the Community War Memorial. He and three other people — one of them Iggy Pop — were charged with ma*****na possession. In May 1976, the charges were effectively dismissed after a grand jury declined to indict him.
