Hey everyone!

We're back and ready for another great issue of Lying on the Couch. Have any ideas for an article you'd like to write for Brooklyn College's very own psychology magazine? Want the fame of being published and read by your fellow students, or do you want to share your knowledge of the human mind? Class papers, book or movie reviews (I heard Nightcrawler was interesting), faculty interviews, and literature analyses are all welcome - just send them in to [email protected].

For some inspiration, check out last semester's issue: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tdfk8sfd99nti5p/Lying%20on%20the%20Couch%20-%20Fall_2014.pdf?dl=0

The deadline for submissions is March 22, so get thinking!

Lying on the Couch

Would you like to contribute to Brooklyn College's 1st ever student published Psychology magazine? We would love for you to get involved in Lying On the Couch - a made by the student, for the student, Psychology magazine published once every semester!
Maybe you'd like to diagnose your favorite TV show character with an abnormal disorder utilizing DSM-5 criteria?
Apply the concepts learned in your Behavioral Neuroscience class (or any other class) and create a very unique case study?
Show us some examples how speech errors or figurative language is seen in your everyday life (slips of the tongue / metaphors / idioms / proverbs)?
Review a movie or book based on a Psychological principle (Gone Girl, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, etc.)?
Tell us a bit about your experience applying to Psychology Graduate Program (GRE's, interviews, the application process, prerequisites etc.)? We’re interested to learn about the different professions that students who major in psychology at BC go on to do - to medical school, dental school, PA, PT, etc. We’re excited to hear about your experience as I’m sure other students would as well!
Interview your favorite Psychology professor finding out exactly what they do in their field of work?
You can even submit a past research paper, opinion, creative writing piece on your favorite psychological phenomenon (conformity, theory of mind, change blindness, the foot in door theory).
We are especially interested in anything neuroscience related, but anything you submit would be great!
For those don't like to write, you can help edit, illustrate, photograph, layout, or design our magazine. We are always looking for new members to contribute in any way they can!
If you are interested in getting involved, please email [email protected].
Writing for us would look great on your resume and /or CV for graduate school. It is also a great way to say that you have been published in undergrad!
