I dunno how I feel about some of the advice that some tech YouTubers and Tiktockers are sharing with their audience. Sometimes they share misleading info on a regular basis to keep their videos relevant on the algorithm of the platform they use. Some of this misinformation leads to viewers damaging their PC. For example: sharing bad advice about PC cooling setups leads to things like shorter lifespan for a pump on an AIO or causing every other component to run hotter instead of cooler and encouraging viewers to go along with it. I don't wanna say any names, but, someone posted a video with that subject last night and I'm honestly just glad his viewers knew better than to believe what he said. They referred to sources that actually researched the subject extensively to counter argue the tech tuber.

I'm considering starting a podcast soon with friends and clients I've helped in the past with their PCs and other friends of mine that are PC experts, where we talk about our experiences with things we tried in our building and repairing experiences and what we recommend you go for and stay far away from.

Looks like one of the Infinity Unifans in Des' rig was defective. I disconnected it for now till we get a replacement fan for her. She still has two front fans for intake at the moment so this is barely having an impact on her cooling. I honestly hated installing the fan in this particular spot of the case. NZXT made that part of the H5 Flow unnecessarily annoying. I love their cases, but that bracket for the fan did not need to be so finicky.

Today, we decided to try a couple of things to improve temps and stability on Mike's rig. We relocated the AIO's radiator to the top. We also replaced the thermal paste with MX-6 and I taught Mike how easy it was to do that. And for added stability, we used Intel XTU to slightly lower the clock speeds on all cores. That helped ensure a huge drop in temps while the system is idle and when under full load when running stress tests. The CPU even managed to pass diagnostics way faster than the last time we checked. It went from being close to a half hour to complete, to less than 3 minutes to complete. It does not thermal throttle anymore. It does not exceed the power limit anymore. The core clock frequency on all cores stays constant and doesn't budge. The PC is now silent since fans don't need to run at high speed anymore. I think I solved the Intel CPU issue so many people were having with instability lately. I'm really happy with the results.

This is what the majority of Micro Center service technicians use to diagnose your PC. They pop in a USB and run the software, and see if anything passes or fails. After that, they determine what repairs need to be done if any are needed. It does make my job easier since it saves me a lot of time from having to take things apart if I don't need to.

Hello everyone! My name is Leo! I'm a streamer of mainly retro games and Metroidvanias! But I also play a variety of different games! I'm based in NYC, USA. I grew up playing retro games since the early 90s and I'm pretty sure my passion for games will never die no matter how old I get.

My content also revolves around PC tech a lot of the time. You will occasionally see me and my friends chatter about new PC tech pretty often, since most of our community members are PC gamers. Our community also shares a lot of advice when it comes to PC troubleshooting. We are very helpful to each other whenever our rigs run into issues. I'm a former Micro Center Service Technician that used to work for at Store 145. Ask about me whenever you're there. They still remember me.
