Welcome to the official Thikana Newspaper page on Facebook: the most widely circulated Bangla newspaper outside of Bangladesh published in New York.
The Bengali Language Movement (i.e. Ekushey February 1952) marked a profound event in Bangladesh history. What began as a mere student protest, led to a historical movement in attempts to acknowledge Bangla as an official language. This movement eventually helped Bangladesh independence through the Bangladesh Liberation War (1971). In order to uphold the significance of the history of Ekushey February for the Bangla language, the Thikana Newspaper’s journey began in February 21, 1990 in order to commemorate this renowned event in time. Our newspaper offers various news: domestic/international current affairs, sports, politics, art & culture, literature, science, religion, editorials, columns, advertisements, and many more. In our page, you will find status updates regarding current events, pictures and videos from various programs. Feel free to browse through our page and leave your thoughtful comments. We regard your insight(s) on various subjects, but please ensure that your comments are relevant to the topics. Refrain from using any sort of vulgarity, profanity, and obscenity as we aim to maintain a respectful setting. Comments will be checked on a regular basis. Thank you for joining the Thikana Family on Facebook.
Mission: We aspire to build bridges between home and abroad for NRB’s (non-resident Bangladeshis) so that expatriate Bengalis are informed and educated about various subjects, are able to not only create a fraternity amongst each other, but also maintain strong ties with their roots as well.
