Film Repertory Group, an NYC-based collective of emerging indie film artists, is seeking original screenplays with the intent to produce a short film in Fall 2018.

While we are not looking for any specific genre, special consideration will be given to scripts that address issues of social import (to be interpreted by the writer) and provide opportunities for diversity in casting. Additionally, because FRG is a collective, we are particularly interested in finding generous collaborators who are willing to be involved throughout the entire development and production process. A desire to engage in this type of extended cooperation, though not a requirement of the selected writer, is highly encouraged and deeply valued.

A small honorarium (TBD) will be awarded to the selected writer once crowd-funding for the film has been completed.

Scripts should be between 5-10 pages, 12 point font, formatted with standard script margins, and submitted as a PDF. Interested writers should send screenplays to [email protected] by MAY 31, 2018 at 11:00 PM EST.

Got the mid-week blues? There's nothing like meeting a new member of the #FRGfam to help get you over the hump!

Meet Brad Root! Brad graduated from Ball State University, where he received his BFA in Theatre with a focus in Acting. His past credits include Talk Radio (Kent), Six Characters in Search of an Author (Manager), Guys n’ Dolls (Nathan Detroit), and The Wedding Singer (Sammy). He also had the opportunity to work with John Cariani, acting in a production of his newest play Love/Sick (Alex, Kevin) while it was in development.

What's your favorite movie, Brad?
One movie I’ve always loved is Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige. My father is a magician, so I always had an appreciation for the amount of detail put into keeping the tricks accurate to the time period. It’s a fun story about the downfalls of revenge and obsession, with a bit of David Bowie playing Nikola Tesla thrown in too.

What's been your favorite moment with FRG so far?
My favorite moment working with FRG so far would be when I got to release a waterfall of fake blood from my mouth working on eHow Not To: Melanies Makeovers. I assume someday I will get the crap beat out of me. It’s nice to know now how I’ll look when that happens.

That's right - it's Wednesday, again! Time for another #FRGfam introduction extravaganza!

Meet John Zion! John, a Virgo, likes long walk on a short Pier, Blue Moons, and, occasionally, a Yuengling. After retiring from Civil Service, John knew he had to do something other then chores his wife left him, so after extensive thinking, he came up with the idea that he would act... and a Headache. Since that day, he has been acting in a variety of stuff and continues to do stuff. All kinds of stuff.

What is your favorite movie, John?
One of my favorite movies is The Warriors. And Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Oh, and Star Trek: The Wrath Of Khan. Then, there is Shawshank Redemption. I better stop now. I will be here all day.

What's been your favorite moment with FRG so far?
Hmm... well, there was the time I was sitting on a bench dressed as Waldo near the water in Socrates Park while Justin and John were filming. After about a half hour, I fell asleep. Not sure for how long, as it seemed forever, but I woke up just in time for someone to tell me that they found me. Yes, there was that.

Happy 2017, #FRGfans! We'd like to begin this new year by introducing you to the newest members of our #FRGfam!

Meet Maggie Langlais! Maggie moved to the city a little over two years ago from Orlando, FL and has been focusing on strengthening a film resume. She has worked with students at NYU and Columbia, as well as UCF and Full Sail University in Florida. Past roles include April in Company, Isabella in Androcles and the Lion, Belinda Phipps in This is How it Goes, and the understudy for Sophia Western in Tom Jones.

What is your favorite movie, Maggie?
The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies; it never gets old for me. I also really like the Prestige. The era, the twist(s), the mood, it was one of those movies I kept thinking about long after I saw it and made me really want to do film in particular

What's been your favorite moment with FRG so far?
My favorite moment so far was probably my first project with FRG, "Honest Interview." The script or rather - the idea for the whole thing - was changed at the last minute, and I was super nervous, but everything worked out, and it ended up being a really great challenge for me. It was such a fun day, it was hard to keep a straight face.

Over the past year, Film Repertory Group has welcomed some awesome new artists into the #FRGfam, and we can't wait to introduce you!

First up - meet Ben Tomassetti! Ben Tomassetti is a comedic actor and writer based in NYC. He is currently inducing knee slaps with his improv teams We Are Yes and Celestial Ham throughout the city, after completing improv training at Upright Citizens Brigade. You can catch him online with Film Repertory Group and Sterling Kings, both writing and performing. Be on the lookout for his bearded presence popping up in your favorite internet comedy videos.

What's your favorite movie, Ben?
The Big Lebowski. Why? I've always loved dark, grounded irreverence. This is the cream of the crop for that and endlessly quotable. "The dude abides."

What's been your favorite moment with FRG so far?
On the set of "Celebrity Trackdown" between sets, Brad and I would riff on the song "Addicted to Love." Pretty sure we went on for at least a half an hour. This is the stuff of FRG podcast dreams.
