Iron Metropolis Films, LLC is an independent film company based in New York City inspired by the late legendary actor, filmmaker, playwright, novelist, and composer, Melvin Van Peebles. Their first feature-length documentary production is Disappearing Freedom: The Decline of Justice. The motion picture takes on the wrongful conviction crisis with an idiosyncratic focus on community and family impact.
The sometimes outspoken and imaginative visionary Tylon Usavior Washington, who also directed Disappearing Voices: The Decline of Black Radio over a decade ago says, “Wrongful convictions devastate families, friends and the communities that miss them.” Tylon also explained, “This motion-picture will inform and entertain in a way that will invite people to act.”
In honor of Juneteenth, the holiday which celebrates the 1865 emancipation of enslaved Black people in the US, Iron Metropolis Films will introduce the highly anticipated first trailer for Disappearing Freedom: The Decline of Justice on Saturday, June 18, 2022, 8-10PM EST. It will be followed by an introspective discussion with the film’s director and community activist working towards system wide reform. The evening will also include a special live-performance, question and answer segments. This event will be in-person and online via Zoom: Register in advance for this meeting:
