I became a mom as a teenager.
A lot of people saw my age before they ever saw my heart. They assumed I would struggle to be the parent my children needed, but the truth is, I never had to be asked to be a mother. From the moment they were just little beans on an ultrasound photo, they became my whole world. Loving them, protecting them, and putting them first was never something I had to learn, it was just who I became. I’ve made sacrifices for them without a doubt or a second thought. And I’d do it again.
My journey hasn't been easy. I've walked through hardships that almost broke me. But ive always found a way to keep going. I've learned what it means to be a single mother, carrying responsibilities that many times felt too heavy for one person. There were nights filled with worry, tears, and exhaustion, but there was never a day I questioned whether I would keep showing up for my children. They have always been my reason to keep going.
Then life brought me a heartbreak no parent should ever have to endure. Losing my son changed me in ways I can never fully explain. A piece of my heart will always belong to my sweet boy that I carry in my soul. Grief doesn't disappear, it simply becomes something you learn to carry alongside love.
Finding the strength to become a mother again after that loss wasn't easy. It wasn't about replacing the child I lost, because that could never happen. It was about believing that my heart still had room to love, even after it had been shattered. It was choosing hope when fear would have been easier.
I don't claim to be a perfect mother, but I know this: my children have always been loved beyond measure. They've always been my priority. My age never defined my ability to be their mom. My love, my resilience, and my willingness to keep getting back up did.
If my post teaches anything, I hope it's this: don't underestimate a young mother. You never know the battles she's fought, the tears she's cried, or the strength it has taken for her to become the woman and the mother that she is today. 🩵
