New Gear: Sennheiser MKH 8018 mid-side stereo sh***un. This is arguably the best sounding, most linear and transparent stereo sh***un. Should be awesome for stereo ambiences, sound effects recording, and audience/crowd mics! Can’t wait to put this thing to use!

Another day doing a thing in a place. A rare situation where a blend of boom and lav sounds best. With the wider frame forcing a further than ideal boom placement it sounded a bit too roomy. While the DPA 4060 hidden under his shirt sounded fine, it still sounds like a lav. Blending a bit of the Schoeps CMIT under the lav gave the dialog a bit more presence, body, and openness, that neither mic would have had alone. A little delay to roughly time align the mics and a touch of corrective EQ ensures the two mics play well together when summing and helps correct for room resonances. Everything is sounding fantastic!
