1. What is your earliest memory of writing? When did you know you were a “writer?” My earliest memory has to be writing cards and poems for my mom. I used to love going to the library. Reading inspired me to write. I wrote short stories after that. By the time I was in the sixth grade, I was put...

What's your story? Find your voice. Tell it.

The WGAE Foundation, commonly known as the Writers Guild Initiative (WGI), is an independent, non-profit organization that is associated with the Writers Guild of America, East. "What's your story? Find your voice. Tell it."

Our mission is to make the art of storytelling accessible to people of all ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds-with special attention to the underserved.

WGI was founded in 1978, and was dormant for many years. Since a new board of directors revitalized the organization in 2006, WGI has provided intensive writing programs in eleven US cities with participants from across the nation, from wounded veterans and their caregivers to "Dreamers" to underserved youth.

All activities promote writing as a singular, accessible vehicle through which people in diverse circumstances can process information about life and self by creatively channeling their experience through the written word.

Please take a look around, give our page a like, and feel free to be in touch if you want more information.

Hello, this is my first time posting here. Is it ok to post poems or is it only allowed through specific posts geared towards poetry? Just curious. Thanks!
Hello! My name is Aaron Grant, and I would like to tell you about a book I’ve published. I wrote the bulk of it with the WGI when they worked with wounded warriors in San Antonio, TX. I am a Retired Staff Sergeant USMC, and the book is called “Taking Baghdad: Victory in Iraq with the US Marines.” It is a military history of the invasion of Iraq in 2003 coupled with my combat experiences in the war as a tanker. It is full of context, strategy, tactics, prayers, and even poetry. It is truly a unique work I hope will take off. The book’s FB page and website are below for your perusal. Thank you for your time and attention. Hello! My name is Aaron Grant and thanks to the late writers retreat in San Antonio with Wounded Warrior Project, I’ve published my first book called “Taking Baghdad: Victory in Iraq with the US Marines.” WE NEED the writers retreat back! Take a look below at my links to the book. Thank you WGI!
