PAM Leader Delivers Fiery ‘Reckoning’ Speech, Calls for Eviction Notice to Drew Administration

Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Natasha Grey-Brookes, delivered a blistering critique of the current government on Friday evening, rallying supporters at the Basseterre Ferry Terminal with what she described as a “reckoning” moment for the nation.

Grey-Brookes accused Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and his administration of failing the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, framing her address as both an indictment of government mismanagement and a call for sweeping political change.

“This administration has failed us,” Grey-Brookes declared to loud applause. “This is not a rally; this is a reckoning. This is not an election; this is an eviction notice!”

The PAM leader highlighted the struggles of small business owners forced to close their doors and working families struggling to make ends meet. She emphasized that these hardships were not the fault of ordinary citizens, but the result of systemic neglect.

“Your difficulties are not your fault,” she told the crowd. “It is the result of a system built on neglect and greed.”

Grey-Brookes also spoke passionately about the plight of the vulnerable, from the homeless to those she described as “forgotten” by the government. Her message underscored the human cost of inequality, urging citizens to recognize their struggles as shared and systemic.

Moving from criticism to commitment, Grey-Brookes assured supporters that her leadership would be rooted in solidarity.

“I am not here to stand on a platform above you; I am here to stand with you,” she proclaimed, pledging to “walk with” the people and fight for their needs.

Her remarks were built to a powerful crescendo, positioning the upcoming election as a pivotal moment of accountability. Grey-Brookes urged citizens to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

“Vote for hope. Vote for fairness. Vote for your future,” she said.

The address closed with Grey-Brookes outlining PAM’s vision and priorities, framing the party as a movement for justice and renewal. The fiery tone and unapologetic messaging drew loud cheers from the crowd, signaling a sharpening of political battle lines as the country edges closer to election season.

PAM Leader Calls for Urgent Action to Save Small Businesses in St. Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts — Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Natasha Grey-Brookes, has sounded the alarm over what she describes as a “crisis” facing small businesses in St. Kitts and Nevis, warning that without immediate policy shifts, the survival of the nation’s economic backbone is at stake.

In a letter to the editor in The Weekend Report, titled, “Saving Small Business, Saving Our Future,” Grey-Brookes expressed deep concern for local entrepreneurs, from family-run shops to emerging start-ups, who she says are being “squeezed on all sides by high operating costs, limited access to credit, and unfair competition.”

“This is not merely an economic issue; it is a matter of national survival,” Grey-Brookes wrote. “When our small businesses suffer, our people suffer. Jobs are lost, families face hardship, and our communities lose their lifeblood.”

The PAM leader criticized successive government policies that she believes have favored large foreign investors at the expense of local entrepreneurs. She argued that concessions, financing, and incentives often go to outsiders, while Kittitian and Nevisian businesses “who live here, employ here, and reinvest here” are left struggling under heavy burdens.

Grey-Brookes is calling for what she terms a “radical shift” in economic policy to better support local business. Among her proposals are:
• Expanding access to affordable financing for small enterprises.
• Reducing the cost of doing business, particularly electricity and import duties.
• Creating a level playing field that prioritizes Kittitians and Nevisians in their own economy.

“We need a common-sense government that understands this pain and is committed to being a partner, not an obstacle,” she said. “True, sustainable development occurs when our own people are empowered to succeed.”

Grey-Brookes also warned against overreliance on foreign corporations, stressing that long-term prosperity can only be achieved when wealth is allowed to circulate within the local economy.

“The time has come for bold leadership and decisive action. We must save our small businesses, because in saving them, we save our future,” she concluded.

Hundreds Gather for Natasha Grey-Brookes’ Community Day on St. Kitts

Back-to-School Event Blends Fun, Relief, and a Strong Sense of Unity

ST. KITTS — It was more than just a community event. On Saturday, the grounds of Pond's pasture came alive with music, laughter, and togetherness as families from across St. Kitts turned out for the Natasha Grey-Brookes Community Day and Back-to-School Event.

The day began with a powerful morning outreach, spreading love through a shopping experience of complimentary grocery items and provisions to help families put meals on their tables. In addition, households were able to access a variety of pre-loved essentials, including mattresses, chairs, and clothing for every age group, making sure that families left not just with food but with comfort and dignity.

As the day unfolded, the atmosphere shifted into a festive celebration. Children beamed as volunteers painted their faces into superheroes, butterflies, and jungle animals. The air rang with laughter as field games, sack races, and relays brought out the playful spirit in both kids and parents.

But beyond the fun, the true heart of the event was revealed when families collected backpacks, notebooks, pencils, rulers, and other school supplies; essentials that often weigh heavily on parents this time of year.

“Back-to-school can be stressful, especially with the costs,” said one parent. “To know that my child has everything they need for the first day, that’s a blessing.”

Organizer Natasha Grey-Brookes explained that the event is about much more than giving out supplies.

“This is about giving every child confidence to step into school ready to learn and giving parents one less thing to worry about,” she said. “And just as importantly, it’s about showing families that they are not alone. This is community in action.”

Dozens of volunteers played a key role in serving refreshments, organizing activities, managing the distribution stations, and lending their support. Their dedication helped transform the event into a full-day celebration of kindness and connection.

Grey-Brookes was quick to give them credit.

“Our volunteers are the heart of this. Their compassion and hard work made today possible. This is proof of what happens when we put community first.”

By the time the sun began to set, families left not only with the tools they need for a successful school year but also with groceries, home essentials, and memories of a day filled with hope and unity.

As Grey-Brookes reflected:

“This is just the beginning. When we work together, we can build brighter futures for our children, for our families, and for St. Kitts and Nevis as a whole.”
