Exploding Puppet Productions

Exploding Puppet Productions Exploding Puppet Productions is a Brooklyn based puppet company creating humorous, educational, and irreverent films & theater for smart kids and immature adults.

EPP is the bastard step child of Drama of Works, a company to whom the core members of EPP belong. When we started making "Die Hard The Puppet Musical" in 2005, Drama of Works' artistic vision of adapting classic literary themes and general lack of dick-jokes didn't seem to quite fit with the new show so John Ardolino and James Walton started this new little company and basically appropriated the DOW staff, rehearsal space, workshop, and developed it extensively through DOW's PUNCH Puppet Slam series. Do we owe everything to Drama of Works and therefore Gretchen Van Lente? Yeah, pretty much. But other people helped too! See below… James Walton (Founder, Artistic Director, Performer, Designer, Musical Director) John Ardolino (Founder, Performer, Writer, Lyrics) Scott Weber (Puppeteer, Writer) Gretchen Van Lente (Producer, Puppeteer) Dean Strober (Director, Producer) Meghan Williams (Puppeteer) Serra Hirsch (Puppeteer, puppet builder) Matt Jackson (Puppet Design and Fabrication consultant) Ken Travis (Sound Designer, Sound Engineer) Wendy Seyb (Choreographer) Alissa Hunnicutt (Puppeteer) Nate Begle (Puppeteer) Vinnie Bove (Puppeteer, Graphic Design) Angrette McCloskey (Set Design) Jason Lyons (Lighting Designer)

The Unforgettable Villainy of Alan Rickman in “Die Hard” - The New Yorker

"No other action villain had a better beard, a more fun name to say out loud, or a better death scene (involving a stunt that Rickman performed himself, and that, over the years, took on the air of myth, with the distance of his fall growing from twenty to thirty to, eventually, forty feet). Amazingly, Gruber was Rickman’s first movie role. He later joked that the producers cast a relative unknown like him because they’d already spent all their money on Willis. But it’s impossible to imagine anyone else playing Hans Gruber, and Rickman had the good sense never to play a version of the same role again."

BREAKING NEWS! PUNCH: STAR WARS KAMIKAZE CANCELLED!!!
We are very sad to announce that due to circumstances out of our control Drama of Works is forced to cancel the awesome event scheduled for February 28th at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Unfortunately, the Lyceum is going through some serious legal and real estate issues and, even though they guaranteed us that the space would be available to us on 2/28, they have suddenly become totally unresponsive. We are not willing to risk having our fans and supporters standing outside of a locked venue on a cold February night, so instead we will reschedule this awesome event for a later date. WE ARE VERY SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE!!! Let it be known that PUNCH: Star Wars Kamikaze WILL happen, bigger, better, and even MORE AWESOME!!! (And if you purchased tickets in advance we will be in touch. Don't worry.)

Die Hard the Puppet Musical!

OK, this is the REAL Die Hard clip. YouTube REALLY wanted people to watch the Puppy Party vid (see below).

Somewhere between homage and parody lies the best singing-sock-puppet-themed adaptation of a late 1980's action movie you're likely to see this year. Wieldin...
