Congratulations all the new 2019 Academy Members, but especially the one we love most, C41's Matt Wolf!
C41 MEDIA is a full service production company specializing in commercials, long form branded content and documentary films.
Launched in 2011 by Pete Sillen and Brendan Doyle, C41 Media has worked with many innovative brands and clients: including Apple, Brizo, Heath Ceramics, Herman Miller, and J. Crew. Sillen has spent 15 years as both an award winning documentary filmmaker and commercial director. Doyle has served as Sillen’s producer and collaborator. The duo teamed up to create a boutique shop focused on real people storytelling. The name C41 Media is a nod to the color negative film developing process (C41). This analogue process was the precursor to the digital revolution. The rolls of color negative film that were developed at drug stores across the US democratized photography in the 20th Century. It transformed average Americans into documentarians, historians, and artists. Color 35mm became the way people told stories with pictures. As the world has gone digital, that original love of storytelling first experienced with color film is still the spark that runs C41 Media. And yes… every once in a blue moon, they still break out their film cameras.
Congratulations all the new 2019 Academy Members, but especially the one we love most, C41's Matt Wolf!

We're so proud of C41 director Matt Wolf!
Matt Wolf has been named one of the guest curators for the film program at this year's Whitney Biennial. He will be presenting work by Barbara Hammer, the prolific lesbian filmmaker whose films explore the bodies, relationships, and narratives of queer women in particular who have been absent from both cinema and history; Sam Green, whose documentaries fearlessly probe complex ideas and fraught historical events; and FIERCE/Paper Tiger Television, two groups who banded together to examine the conflict over the Christopher Street Pier, gentrification, and the erasure of queer histories and spaces.
The Whitney Museum of American Art announced today that seventy-five artists have been selected to present their work in the 2019 Whitney Biennial, co-organized by two Whitney curators, Jane Panetta and Rujeko Hockley. This will be the seventy-ninth in the long-running series of exhibitions launched...
