Make Muse

Make Muse The many definitions of independent 🙃 makeupless started as a quest to spend a yr w/o wearing makeup by founder maura sheedy. through her experience, she proved that beauty is not makeup.

living the life of a teenager for 365 days without any mascara, foundation, or lipgloss, she was makeupless for her junior year homecoming, her senior yearbook photo, and wherever her day took her. she hopes to smash the stereotype that females need to be a definition of beauty that revolves on what’s on your face, the shape of your body, or an unrealistic perfection. beauty expectations aren't the only female stereotypes that need to change. makeupless serves as a platform that exhibits that women can be leaders, women can be entrepreneurs, and women can be creators. makeupless believes in a definition of feminism that girls, women, and females can do anything, despite whatever society says. here, we’re highlighting people, organizations, events, and products that also hope to MAKE this a reality. are you a maker? someone who is making a change in the beauty industry making headlines as a entrepreneur making a mark as a female or female-supporting leader making the list of artists, writers, and filmmakers creating content with a message making the cut with a inclusive or feminist style or brand making up your mind to change society with a movement or idea making friends w/ a pro female community, networks, or event we're a news source and a network open to anyone. join us here to make it happen.

WTF is Make Muse?

Make Muse was built knowing that young women care about the world, are worried about their futures, and want to have fun in the midst of global chaos, too. On top of that, being a female, non-binary, or femme individual comes with unfair societal standards and expectations.

Make Muse believes in providing intelligent media for and by smart and creative young womxn. Through both digital and print initiatives, our content focuses on challenging gender roles and encouraging our readers to be daring, action-oriented, and most importantly, who they are, despite whatever society says they should be like. We value authenticity, inclusivity, community, and equality, echoing these values in all that we produce.

We publish daily content on our website, including personal essays, op-eds, creative pieces, poetry, and interviews centered around our mission. Our content dives into the topics of gender and feminism and their impact on body, career, politics, lifestyle, art, and more. Each piece is a personal ode to young women, written by young people for young people in order to inspire them to go out there and do something.

The Make Muse magazine is a hold-in-your-hands keepsake comprised of exclusive pieces and the best of our submitted content, resembling a scrapbook or journal. It's not just a magazine; it’s a memento that's designed to be the perfect thing to look at when you need a bit of inspiration, a great gift for your best friend, or something special to look forward to twice a year. We're covering intelligent topics, fulfilling a need for a smart print magazine for young women.
