Yes, France is in lockdown, but we can still dream, right? This week, we took a deep dive into #Provence, printing excerpts from a spectacular new photo book from ASSOULINE and interviewing author François Simon on our weekly podcast (www.frommers.com/podcast).

We got the LOVELIEST letter through Frommers.com today. It was about the Frommer's podcast which came out yesterday and it read: "Really enjoyed the recent podcast covering the “New Yorkers” book and the article/interview about the Pierre. I have ordered the book and looking forward to reading it and located the article in the New Yorker. I’m sorry that in my many trips to NYC I never made it to the Pierre - next time for sure."

There's more in the letter, but I'll leave it at that, and invite you to listen to what we think was an unusually good podcast this week, featuring Craig Taylor (author of a book called "New Yorkers), Jennifer Gonnerman (of the magazine The New Yorker), and Anastasia Mills Healy (author of the new book "Weird Connecticut").

When we can go again
I miss traveling. In 1969 I drove around the USA for almost two months. Our country is filled with awe-inspiring beauty. But what really opened my eyes was the diversity of people who reached out to welcome me and show me the places that they loved. These essays by famous writers express some of the "education" I received on that trip.

In 1972, at age 16, I went in my first solo international trip with a copy of Europe on $5 a Day. What a godsend! For lodging and food it was indispensable and highly reliable. Please express my appreciation to Mr. Frommer.

questions: have you heard feed back from your writers or locals in countries who are restricting travelers from the USA, commenting on how 'wonderful' it is that there are no tourists? we might need a list of countries who allow USA travelers and who might WANT them, as well.
Hmmm, Maybe the $29.00 flight? No pressure.
after 4 months of no travel, have you heard from other full time travelers, if they worry it will be difficult to return to the life of a travelers? Motivation suffers from the inactivity of quarntine.
question on NYC not in your tour book. Pauline, you may be the expert on museums and wonder if you know of any in NYC that would include the names/locations of neighboroods in the late 1800's to perhaps 1910?
