Super proud to have some of my footage used in this wonderful piece by PBS highlighting the Black Lives Matter movement and specifically the movement for Black Trans Lives. Raquel Willis is an American hero and deserves all the attention and respect.
Raquel Willis on how the Black Lives Matter movement uplifts Black trans and queer lives.
Round 2 with DealCloud today
Shooting with DealCloud in Jersey City today. So nice to be back at it with production! Wonderful, as always, to team up with @kaya88 for his superb camera and lighting work. He’s not bad with a boom pole either. 👍🏼🎥
It’s been such a wonderful experience filming for @itsanerishah as she crafts her doc on women ER doctors during the pandemic. The subjects we’ve spoken to are truly admirable to say the least. Here’s a still from interviewing the ridiculously endearing @shazsohr - can’t wait to see how the edit turns out!! #femalefilmmakers #femaledirector
Yesterday @leanensembletheater released episode 10 of the QuaranLean series. The final episode featured one of my favorite humans @mylalerner.
It’s been a wild ride producing and editing the show. Major props to Blake White for all he did to make this show so fun.
We are all trying to figure out how to make art in this very strange time and coming together to create this show has been a special way of doing just that. To all the guests and the team that promotes and shares the show, thank you! Hope to make a season 2 in the future 🤠

Call to Action SUP fam:
The Trump administration is once again attacking the LGBTQ+ community and this times it’s housing. HUD is planning to roll back anti discrimination programs with the intent to hurt trans people seeking safe housing through the system. The goal is simply to discriminate and prolong suffering. It’s especially heartless and appalling they this push comes during COVID-19.
Please take 5 mins to submit a comment to HUD. We have until September 22nd to submit as many comments as possible and they have to read them all! The more we send the more likely the discrimination is pushed back or delayed as they read what we have to say.
Go to housingsaveslives.org - Thanks, as always, to the warrior himself @theelielcruz for bringing SUP on to help promote this cause and @antiviolence for all they do. And thank you Stevin for sharing your story!! #HousingSavesLives

Back before Covid-19 hit NYC (early March 2020), I filmed I Will Not Be Quiet's wonderful 3rd Year Anniversary Celebration. The event brought together all sorts of people with one goal in mind: to celebrate resistance and persistence. To take the energy and anger and fear that exists within and channel it into positive change.
I filmed a panel of remarkable speakers, including Paola Mendoza, Alicia Garza, Amber Tamblyn and Lauren Duca.
Here is a clip from the brilliant Alicia Garza, who just a few months later is a much more widely known figure now, as she’s the co-founder of Black Lives Matter.
Garza’s advice rings so true, especially as we see the fruits of her activist labor turning into real, actionable change. Find community. Find joy. Resist together. Fight fatigue and isolation with joy and community and a bigger purpose.
Thank you Adrianne Wright and the I Will Not Be Quiet
crew. Get involved and follow them for more incredible work.
It was an honor to film and edit this video for New York City Anti-Violence Project #JusticeForLayleen
A year ago today our community lost #LayleenPolanco, a 27-year-old Afro-Latinx trans woman was pronounced dead in a solitary confinement cell at Rikers. We mourn the loss of Layleen, a sister, daughter, mother, friend, and community advocate. We are angry and committed to continuing to support her family as they seek justice for her death.

This is a great new #podcast! Thanks Playwrights Horizons - we're loving soundstage :D https://www.playwrightshorizons.org/watch-listen/soundstage/soundstage-episodes/
Inspired by breviary masses performed by cloistered monks, PRIME employs modern language and rich, contemporary musical arrangements to reimagine what a modern prayer for a Tuesday morning at 6 AM might sound like.
"As time has passed, I’ve come to understand what deep influence shaping a narrative has. Stories inspire our actions. They frame for us existences that are and are not possible, delineate tracks we can or cannot travel. They choose who we can find empathy for and who we cannot. What we have fellow feeling for, we protect. What we objectify and commodify, we eventually destroy." -- https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/07/opinion/sunday/brit-marling-women-movies.html
In pop culture, women are often objectified and disposed of. But even when we’re not being victimized, the alternative leaves much to be desired.
Brilliant talk on screenwriting. BAFTA
Vote for Lean Ensemble Theater!
We worked with this fantastic company last season and are thrilled they told us about their new charitable initiative. From now until February 29th, they are accepting nominations for your favorite local non-profit. If you have a moment, we would greatly appreciate it if you could nominate Lean. The three non-profit organizations with the most nominations will become finalists for this generous donation. Donations like this help us continue to fund and expand our education programming and provide quality theater to the Hilton Head Island community. To nominate us, visit www.CollinsGroupRealty.com/200thHomeSale. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
