🇯🇵🇷🇺🇨🇳 Japan PM Takaichi is calling Putin’s visit to the Northern Territories ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.

Those islands are Japanese territory, period.

The trip was a clear middle finger from Putin, and it will only make Japanese people more hostile to Russia for a long time.

Japan is getting squeezed from 2 sides.

Up north, Russia is digging in on the Kurils and teaming up with China on military flights and drills near Japan.

Down south and out east, China keeps pushing harder around the Senkakus, Taiwan, and deeper into the Pacific.

They’re coordinating more and more.

That’s the real problem.

Tokyo needs to get serious. More defense spending, better missiles, higher readiness, and clear red lines.

Soft talk won’t stop this.

Who’s actually going to help Japan if something happens, though?

The U.S. is still the main one because of the security treaty, but let's just say the wars in Ukraine and Iran aren't doing any favors for U.S. defense support of allied nations.

Australia and India through the Quad bring real muscle and the same interest in keeping the region open.

Those are the partners that matter. Everyone else can talk, but capability counts more.

Takaichi’s strong words were a good start.

Now Japan has to back it up so neither China nor Russia thinks they can keep pushing for free.

🇹🇼 Taiwan has never been independent, says the Kuomintang Chairwoman.

Cheng Li-wun called the ruling Democratic Progressive Party’s claim (DPP) that Taiwan is already its own country pure nonsense.

The Kuomintang is the old Chinese Nationalist Party that ruled all of China before the Communists took over in 1949 and then retreated to the island.

They still see the Republic of China as the legitimate government of the whole country, so in their view Taiwan is not a separate independent nation.

That’s why they reject formal independence.

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 Iran wants compensation for the 5-month war. Trump's response: sure, let's do the math both ways.

Trump said he's now "likewise demanding compensation from Iran," citing the roadside bombs and "many conflicts" tied to the late General Qassem Soleimani, families of those killed on the USS Cole, "hundreds of thousands" of protesters Iran has allegedly killed over 50 years, and 52,000 killed in the last 5 months of fighting.

He says he's instructed his team to put it "firmly" into all future negotiations.

Bottom line: nobody's paying anybody anytime soon.

🇨🇳 China is building the kind of leverage that makes wars unnecessary.

The latest public display of multiple DF-17 hypersonic launchers on state media, complete with claims they are nearly impossible to intercept, is part of a much bigger picture.

Those road-mobile missiles with maneuverable glide vehicles can reach Taiwan, Japan and U.S. bases across the first island chain in minutes.

At the same time the PLA has built sprawling desert ranges with full-scale mock-ups of American carriers, Arleigh Burke destroyers, F-35s, Taiwan’s presidential office and Japanese early-warning aircraft so it can practice precision strikes over and over.

Large amphibious assault drills and growing carrier activity east of Taiwan add to the pressure.

The goal is not necessarily to launch an invasion tomorrow.

It is to make the cost of resistance look so high that Taiwan, Japan and the United States start calculating that fighting simply isn’t worth it.

Beijing would rather win by forcing the other side to fold without a shot being fired.

That is the playbook on full display right now
