NEWS JUST IN: Shebeshxt Fans Demand His Release After Jub Jub Granted Bail Over Holiday Period
Polokwane, Limpopo – Fans of Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt have voiced strong anger online after reports that TV host Jub Jub was granted bail during a holiday-period, in a court session held behind closed doors, while Shebeshxt has reportedly been denied bail four times.
The frustration spread quickly on social media over the past 24 hours. Supporters argue that Jub Jub, who has previous convictions, was released on bail, while Shebeshxt, who has not been convicted of any offense prior to his current case, remains in custody.
“Shebeshxt was denied bail four times already. Jub Jub is a convicted criminal who was released on bail,” one fan posted on X. “We want Shebeshxt released immediately. This doesn’t make sense.”
Similar posts using Shebeshxt’s name and calls for his immediate release have been trending, with many fans questioning the consistency of bail decisions between the two cases. Some have also raised concerns about a “secret court” sitting during the holiday, though court authorities have not released details on the proceedings.
Bail decisions in South Africa are made by magistrates based on factors including flight risk, likelihood to interfere with witnesses, and the nature of charges. Each case is assessed on its own facts and evidence, and previous convictions can be considered by the court.
Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, was arrested late last year and has appeared in court several times. His bail applications have been denied on multiple occasions. Jub Jub, real name Molemo Maarohanye, was convicted in 2012 for culpable homicide and has since returned to television.
Fans say they will continue to push for Shebeshxt’s release and are calling for transparency around how bail is granted.
