Lender quoted, hand shook over the phone — then we ran 3 scenarios instead.

$380k EXAMPLE 30-yr:
6.75% = $2,465/mo
7.00% = $2,528/mo (+$63)
7.25% = $2,592/mo (+$128 vs base)

Vet $550 — shots, spay/neuter, 2 sick visits
Food $600 — $50/mo large breed
Gear + insurance $590 — crate, leash, bed $240 + $350 insurance
Plus $200 adoption fee = $1,940

Varies by breed/vet/region — small dogs eat less, emergencies eat more.

BLS Sept 11: gas +3.9% drove more than 1/3 of August's CPI rise. AAA Sept 11: diesel ~$6.05 record.

Our EXAMPLE at 25mpg, $3.90/gal, 30 days:
25 mi/day = 30 gal = $117.00/mo
40 mi/day = 48 gal = $187.20/mo
60 mi/day = 72 gal = $280.80/mo

Varies by state and car — that's the point. Do your miles: (daily miles x 30 / mpg) x price.
