I know what it means to get the chance to live a life on the other side of cancer. Every child deserves that same chance. Marcus and I had the opportunity to attend the Hyundai Hope On Wheels Gala in D.C. and this experience felt deeply personal for me. Having experienced cancer myself, I understand what research, treatment and advancements in medicine can mean for someone fighting it. I’m here today because I got the chance to fight and survive, so learning about the work being done to give children fighting cancer that same chance was incredibly powerful to witness.

Every 36 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer, yet only about 4% of federal cancer research funding is spent on projects involving childhood cancer. That’s part of why the work of Hyundai Hope On Wheels matters so much. For 28 years, they’ve helped fund pediatric cancer research, treatments and survivorship, with $303 million in total giving since 1998, helping move research forward, advance treatments and support children and families impacted by cancer. But behind those numbers are real children and real families. 🥹

Each year, children impacted by cancer place their handprints on Hyundai vehicles to honor their stories of hope and courage. As a cancer survivor and a mom, looking at those little handprints, all I could think about was how much every one of these children deserves the chance to grow up and experience life on the other side of cancer too. Because at the end of the day, that’s what we’re hoping for: more research, more treatments, more survivors and more HOPE. ❤️

I knew I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed my babies. Knowing didn’t make it hurt any less when I became a mom. After Stage 3 breast cancer and a double mastectomy at 27, I had already accepted that breastfeeding wouldn’t be part of my motherhood journey.

What I didn’t expect was my body producing milk anyway, or the emotions that would come with not being able to fully give my babies what my body was trying to produce. During Breastfeeding Awareness Month, I’m sharing my story for the mothers whose feeding journeys came with grief too. There’s room for our stories. 💕

After doing this baby thing twice, I can officially say… these are the things we ACTUALLY use. Some of these we’ve had since our first baby, some are newer finds, but every single one has earned its place in our home.

If I had to build a baby registry all over again, these would make the list. Building a registry, shopping for a little one, or just want to know what’s actually worth buying?
