Not a plumber. Is this right?

The family was on FaceTime and my mother in law showed us her new vanity and plumbing job that she hired out. Like the title says, I’m not a plumber but this doesn’t look right to me. Is this plumbing job acceptable?

Replced condenser repair contract question

So my condenser went out, and I have American Home Shield. They sent a local tech out to check what's happening, and he updated AHS that Condensor needs to be replaced. AHS Said to replace it, and they sent the Condensor. I currently have a york condenser, and the one they are replacing it with is the carrier. AHS carries parts and labor, but I have to pay for a permit and other stuff, so the company installing it sent me a home repair contract with everything listed and prices. My question is, there are a few things listed I don't know about. What are these locking Caps? is that mounting Cost? Also, what is UV Tape? Also, include an install picture if everything looks good.

I assume this is a terrible price

I have been limping my package AC through the summer. The compressor has been overheating regularly; about every day, and nothing I do seems to fix it. I have an industrial maintenance background so HVAC is not a new concept for me.

I invited a company over for a quote on a package AC replacement. Immediately the guy wanted to know how old the ductwork was. I let him look in the crawl space and told him probably original to the house at 35 years.

He then proceeded to tell me that I cannot upgrade my system without upgrading the ductwork. I said ok then give me a ballpark so I can save up and pay cash. He said “let me show you our financing options” and I knew it was going south. He brings out a financing plan sheet that starts at $7500 and I’m like ok that’s not great. He said “Oh don’t worry we’ll be well above 7500, a new package unit starts at $25k” to which I said “WHAT THE F**K?!”

This man proceeded to tell me that was just the beginning, that I would have to pay an additional $18k for ductwork alone, and I stopped him there and told him not to waste my time. He left while telling me all about how I wont find a reputable company cheaper.

I thought that was that but he texted me again not 15 minutes after leaving about how he can get me in the low 30s for a system replacement. Get bent dude. I’ve had f**k you quotes but never a double down f**k you quote.

Register sweating in attic. Not covered exposed.

I noticed one of registers is exposed and has moisture on it. In Houston so it’s hot and humid. I’m assuming they cut a hole and didn’t cover it with insulation. Should I just wipe it down dry and then put insulation in this hole to cover it up so hot attic air doesn’t have direct access to this? Yellow fiberglass or regular Batt insulation? The moisture doesn’t seem to leak to the drywall but I want to avoid anything in the future.

R22 to 422b Attempted to convert a r22 3.5ton Lennox system to 422b, unit takes some charge but it stops taking it and when running unit freezes txv because of under charge but still won’t take it in.
Suspect txv is stuck closed or plugged.
Or possibly doesn’t work with 422b pressure/temp?
Txv has an equalizer and is all flaring connections. Found exact replacement on eBay seller doesn’t have any info other than it’s for r22 system only.

what's up with this mold?

can anybody tell me what this indicates? my understanding is a few years back the previous owner of this place had the inside of the ducts sprayed with kilz, which doesn't sound very useful but then again I'm naive about HVAC. I had the mold tested and it came back as not the super toxic stuff but I can't help feel like this can't be good. I live in Houston where it is quite humid outdoors all the time. any input would be greatly appreciated
