Built by James V in 1538, this ornate fountain graces the courtyard at Linlithgow Palace.

Linlithgow Palace is a birthplace of a number of Scottish monarchs, including Mary, Queen of Scots.

Grittleton Manor in Wiltshire began as a Jacobean house built in 1660, later transformed into an imposing Victorian mansion.

Wealthy solicitor Joseph Neeld purchased the estate in 1828 and oversaw its dramatic redevelopment.

Architect James Thompson extended the manor between 1832 and 1840, with much of the original structure demolished in 1852.

Neeld frequently changed plans mid-construction, requiring both Thompson and later architect Henry Clutton to adapt to his evolving vision.

The final design featured full-height sculpture galleries — a bold display of Neeld’s wealth and love of art.
