Rusty Goffe, one of the original Oompa Loompa actors from the beloved 1971 classic W***y Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, has officially brought his remarkable acting career to a close.
Goffe was only 22 years old when he first stepped into the world of W***y Wonka alongside Gene Wilder. More than five decades later, he returned to the chocolate factory for Netflix’s Wonka’s The Golden Ticket this time working alongside his son, Ben.
Now 77, Goffe has described the Netflix series as his “swan song,” making his final appearance as an Oompa Loompa a remarkable full-circle moment. His career also included appearances in major productions such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who.
Perhaps the most touching part of his return is that 55 years after beginning his movie career with W***y Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, he ended it by returning to the Wonka universe. Netflix also brought him back alongside his son, creating a special father-and-son connection to the iconic franchise.
For generations of movie fans, Rusty Goffe will forever be remembered as part of the magical world created by Gene Wilder's W***y Wonka.
From the original chocolate factory to one final adventure—what a way to close a 55-year chapter. 🍫💚
