Labeling humans can be a good thing and research shows that people actually like being labeled, as long as it’s something we approve of - like an environmentalist, a vegan, a human rights activist, a rock jock, or even our essential workers we label heros. Labels can be seen as a badge of honor and being told we are a part of a group makes us more receptive to a message and more inclined to participate in their “group’s” message.
Labels are tied with passions. Passions are deeply personal and an intimate aspect of a person’s essence. So expressing it to others creates sentiments of acceptance and authenticity.
Brands have the ability to leverage this and connect at a much deeper level with their core buyers. All achieved when brands properly define and express their passions. These stronger bonds will increase brand loyalty and ultimately drive business objectives forward.
