Hello again, wonderful people!

For those who are new, we have the next Caliper meeting TOMORROW after 10th period! We will be using prompts to inspire creative writing and then we will share what we’ve written with each other at the end. There’s more detail about our meetings and initiatives that we will discuss at the meeting, which will be and always will be in room 615E.

Just a reminder: you do not need to attend meetings to submit to the magazine (that comes out in the winter and spring), but if you are looking for a tight knit writing community, critiques on your work and/or an opportunity for some uninterrupted writing, then come by on any Tuesday !! You are always welcome to drop by.

We look forward to seeing you there !! :)

With love,
Katherine Sanchez, Nadine Jackson and Anne Chen

Hey y'all.
Well, this is it.
We've had a great time running our little literary kingdom, but, alas, all good things must come to an end. We must leave Caliper and depart for other realms. Break our hearts though it does, we must.

Do not fear, however, for we are not departing like mere thieves in the night. We have left our empire to three bold young overlords-in-the-making, and trust that they will honor our legacy of writing, sharing, editing, and absolutism. They'll probably be introducing themselves to you sometime soon, so look forward to that!

Also, if you feel overly distraught to see the last of our strange, rambling, poorly laid-out missives, you should head over to our brand-new Tumblr at califart.tumblr.com. We'll do our best to fill it with the musings/strangenesses/ducks/obsessions that present themselves to us.

It's been fun, and we can't wait to see what you all will do next.

Love,
Alicia, Sarah, and Henry,
Retired Benevolent Overlords of Caliper Literary Magazine

Which Caliper Literary Magazine Editor Are You?

Hi there!
It's been a while.
We hope you're enjoying the Summer!

So we've got some brand new lovely Caliper heads taking over for us who we will introduce soon, but in the meantime you've probably been wondering which of us three caliper editors you secretly are!
Right?
You've been wondering that, right?
Anyway, wonder no longer for we have created a quiz to solve this eternal mystery. Yay.

08/05/2017

Hey there!
So you probably don't remember but last year aka 2015-2016, there was only a Fall edition of Caliper.
No Spring edition.
"Where is the Spring 2016 issue of Caliper?" you all wondered.
Well, it secretly existed this whole time, but our predecessors never managed to get it printed because doing literary magazines can be hard sometimes.
Forgive them.
Now that we're going out of office, we can finally regale you with the Lost Caliper, free of charge, in glorious full-color PDF (attached)! Just let us know via Facebook or at [email protected] and we'll send it to you!
Also, we know the Spring 2016 issue sold out more quickly than expected—good job buying Calipers, guys! If you were unable to get a print copy and were featured in the issue or have some other dire need for it, feel free to reach out to us and we'll try to get it to you in digital format.
With love,
Your Benevolent Overlords

Hi guys! This is just a quick reminder that the spring issue of caliper is now on sale!!!! Come pick a copy up in the English Office (room 601), find one of us, or message us!!!! The price has been lowered to a dollar per copy!

END OF THE YEAR PARTYYYYYY
Hey guys!
So, next Tuesday is our last caliper meeting (ahhhh we are so sad!!!).
And we'd like y'all to be there because we'll be hosting a small spring caliper launch/end of the year party!
Come equipped with money for the new caliper if you'd like an issue which you should because it is real pretty and there is some good writing/art in there.
Please bring food if you can!

04/15/2017

Hi!
Just reminding you all that submissions for the spring issue are due
today, Saturday April 15th!
SUBMIT!

04/09/2017

Hi!
So we messed up.
Those of you who already have your copy of Caliper may notice that we
accidentally printed two copies of Raihana Sultana's "Maybe", one of which
has replaced JJ Stevens' "What Can I Say?" So, for your reading pleasure,
we're going to put the real poem here. It will also be featured in the
Spring issue of Caliper so watch out for that!

"What Can I Say?"
JJ Stevens, Freshman

You cannot chain my spirit to the walls,

Or force me to give up my stubborn fight.

In our hearts, we know hope still roams these halls,

Someday, somehow, I’ll see the sun’s bright light.

The barren, empty rooms don’t frighten me.

You try to instill fear, but it won’t come.

The only thing we want is to walk free.

But who can tell? You go by rule of thumb.

The future can’t be predicted for us.

It seems to me that there might be no choice.

Talking to you is so superfluous.

Scream loud - I can, but who will hear my voice?

My short time here is drawing to a close.

We all know this is not the life I chose.

04/07/2017

Guys!!! Here it is! The moment you've been waiting for!

THEY'RE HERE!

That's right! The 2016-17 Winter Edition of Caliper will be available
starting tomorrow. Since the break is starting the day after tomorrow, as
of right now they're only available if you get in touch with us (email! fb
message! carrier pigeon!) so we can arrange a place to give them to you.
Sarah will also be in the English office during and for a little after 10th
pd, as well as during 5th, and Henry will be there during 9th.
Also, if you happen to see one of us in the hall, there's a pretty good
chance we'll have a couple, so feel free to come and ask. We hope to have
them available in the library, school store, and English office after break.

Get in touch!!! Copies are $3 each!

Hi there!
So the next issue is currently being printed
(and we will let you know when it is ready, never fear).
If you emailed us or we otherwise had your contact info,
and your work was included in the magazine,
you should have been contacted by now.
If you submitted through the google form,
and we don't have contact info for you,
but you want to find out in advance if your work is featured,
you will have to find a way to contact us.
If you are anonymous you may have to make an anon email or something,
we apologize for the inconvenience but this is the price of anonymity!
Also feel free to contact us if you have any questions at all about
