Our first release of 2026 will be a wild one. Two absolute legends of free jazz and so much more duetted live at what has been our spiritual home base back in Summer, 2023. Until then David Liebman & Dave Burrell had never worked together despite traveling parallel paths for decades. But, over the course of a magical session, they conducted a musical conversation like the supremely wise and dedicated artists each of them have been for almost 60 years. This LP is the second in our Hard Pan series so you may experience the wisdom and beauty and truth in distinct streams from each of your stereo speakers, using your brain to mix them according to your ability and taste. Writing about D'Angelo on social media and the immense sadness over his death at too young an age feels inconsequential compared to his inexplicable legacy. His contributions to popular music were almost like the last gasp before the culture largely succumbed to the mindset that financial success equals quality. His songwriting, musicianship and dedication to organic creation unbound by limits like time or logic will shine like eternal beacons for all with the right kind of vision and ears straining to hear some beautiful songs.
