HOME: A Rockumentary

Donate or spread the word about HOME: A Rockumentary!

This past summer I shot for the last stretch of production for this film. It's about a rock band made up of an incredible group of young students and their very dedicated teacher. It speaks to so much about the state of public education funding in Philadelphia and the need for community and creativity. Please help the project in any way you can!

Hey fans of HOME, we've launched our crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo so that we can finish HOME. Please help spread the word to your friends in person and share over social media and make a small donation if you can!

2017 Reel

2016 has been a big year for Tyler Horst Media. I began work with Comcast, AJ+, All Def Digital, the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, and more. I met inspiring people, traveled all across the country, watched some of the year's most exciting events unfold, and had the absolute privilege of telling stories about all of them.

After all the exciting developments of this year, I finally put together a new reel featuring lots of my work from 2016. Thank you to everyone who worked with Tyler Horst Media this year, and here's looking forward to new stories in 2017.

AJ+

About two weeks ago I went up to Luzerne County, PA on assignment for AJ+ to hear from residents about why the county flipped from blue to red. Most of the people I spoke with were lifelong Democrats and two-time Obama voters, but went all in for Trump this year. Hear from them why the Democratic party isn't doing it for them anymore, why they were excited about Trump, and what they hope for the next four years.

Pennsylvania's Luzerne County hasn't voted for a Republican president since 1988. This year, however, they voted for Trump.

Ailing Rec Centers Patiently Await Soda Tax Relief | Hidden City Philadelphia

If you're voting in Philadelphia tomorrow, you will find a ballot initiative that reads:

"Should the City of Philadelphia borrow ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY FOUR MILLION THREE HUNDRED THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($184,303,000.00) to be spent for and toward capital purposes as follows: Transit; Streets and Sanitation; Municipal Buildings; Parks, Recreation and Museums; and Economic and Community Development?"

Earlier this year, I reported on the dire conditions of public rec centers across the city. 43 sites were determined to need a "complete overhaul." Children at Kingsessing Rec Center, for instance, have to traverse stairs that are caving in.

$25.7 million of the bonds proposed in the ballot initiative will go toward reapiring these rec centers. Please read up on the condition of our public facilities before voting tomorrow:

Dandon Miller Fundraiser Unisex Black Tee

Dandon Miller, one of the musicians featured in my upcoming documentary about the Lancaster metal scene, was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle recently. He's in the hospital recovering now but could use some help in the long road ahead.

Dandon is the vocalist for Consumer and formerly played guitar in a band called Lucy. As you'll see in the film, he is a genuine, down-to-earth dude with a great heart and inspiring passion for his music. If you can, help him out by purchasing this custom t-shirt from FakeLife Clothing, all the proceeds of which will go to Dandon's medical expenses:

Or, if you prefer to simply donate, you can do so at the GoFundMe page set up by his friends and family:
