With the impending writer's strike, it may seem like there's not much we can do, until this gets resolved. But alas, there is!

We get to take control of our careers by making sure we're up to date on our materials when the industry is back to what will most likely be another 'new normal'.

In the meantime, we can update our headshots, if it's been a minute, (like me), resume, website, reels, clips...the list goes on...

When updating your reels, clips, go through your footage with fresh eyes and ask:

-Does your footage focuses on you?
-Is the production quality up to par (clear lighting, good sound)?
-Does it show proper titltes/captions?
-Does it start and end on you?

And, does your footage show who you are; what roles you play; and how you want you want to be seen in the Industry?

Trying to figure out how to cut down your ? 🤔

Rather than try to fit in everything-you’ve-ever-done, you could split up into two separate reels, ie. Comedy/Theatrical reel. 🎬

When to consider more than one reel?

Once you’ve got more than 30 seconds of footage from contrasting projects, like a thriller and a sketch comedy piece, you may want to split it up.

Your audience, ie. filmmakers, agents, producers, may not have time to 'wade through the drama' first, if their looking to cast you in a comedy. 🎭

Make it easy for them to 'get to the funny'! 😂

Narrow down your options by choosing the best 3 sections that you 💙 that focus on you, show different range/motions, and, most of all, show your strongest acting. Then you can further make your editing choices from there. 🎞
