Women going to nail salons contribute to the heartbreak of miscarriages, cancers and other illness that the salon workers experience. This can't be good karma...
New York Times article series below:
Some ingredients used in nail products have been tied to cancer, miscarriages, lung diseases and other ailments. The industry has long fought regulations.
As I Pause And Pray
And think of the Hands that constructed my prayer wheels
And I know those same hands now are wiping tears and holding their rubble
And holding a baby boy risen from the dust
My heart aches for you, Nepal,
Six Thousand and Two Hundred Aches,
There is something
About a death toll
As you scroll through these photos
You will activate prayers.

This Wednesday I'm teaching 600 kids how to save their own lives. I am so glad I survived so that I could do this. Thank you to Cohen Children's Medical Center and Long Island Jewish for giving me a call and keeping this little snowball of mine rolling and growing.
WEAR A HELMET.
I learned the hard way so that everyone who crosses my path could learn the easy way.
Now if Bono had gotten wind of me and my public speaking on HELMET SAFETY... this would be a different story...
Now it's YOUR job to put me in front of your people so I can teach them the hard lesson I learned. Bono and I learned the hard way. Your people can learn the easy way.
U2 frontman Bono suffered far more serious injuries in his “bike spill” in New York City’s Central Park largely because he was riding without a helmet, according to a source. His most serious injuries, a fractured skull and facial fracture, according to attending doctors, are consistent with riding…
For those who have been crying, this one's for you.
What could be worse than a child freezing through the night? Three children freezing through the night. These 3 children and their parents have created a campaign to get heat restored in a home they just moved into. Can you help them out a bit, too? They just need to raise a touch more to get a heating system in their home. Christopher reached out to Healing House and we would like to spread the word. Let's create some warmth. Whenever I get asked to speak to a group of young people, specifically young girls, I get to make inner peace with that voice in me that says "if only someone had taught me that when I was a young girl...I would not have made these decisions..."
Tonight, Girl Scouts will learn a thing or two from the 10 year old me, and the 38 year old me will learn a ton from them.
A new article is out by Healing House Publishing Author, JB Ramos, on strength building and personal development through competition.
by Jb Ramos – Throughout my life, I have pushed myself to see what I can achieve. Competing in races and martial arts tournaments helps me build strength because physical challenges teach individuals that they can push through their own personal barriers or “wall,” by means of physical and mental tr…
Healing House Publishing is soon to release a whole slew of new videos but first we need to build a prop. A Desktop tree that can travel and "bears fruit." Any ideas?
This is Me. And it doesn't have to be You.
Every autumn day passes with countless care-free cyclists on the roads moving fast with, and against, traffic. Please wear a helmet. I sure wish I did six years ago.
Again, this is Me. And it doesn't have to be You. Leaving myself wide open to head injury was my choice. This was no accident. What's your choice?
The best healing might just be avoiding getting injured at all.
Post concussion syndrome can masquerade as ADHD, Depresion and mood disorders
Today: One hour hand massage and cranio-sacral therapy.
Yesterday: 90 minute full body massage
The day before: Five minute long lotioning of my left leg only by my two year old niece.
The day before that: one minute hug with my best friend of 25 years
The day before that: three hugs goodbye in Oslo, Norway, with a girlfriend I hadn't seen in five years.
Two and a half years before that: Drunk Boyfriend slapping me across the face repeatedly several times at a bar in Chelsea.
Healing happens when you can let it, and even when you think you have healed there is more healing to be had. Welcome it! It's taken years to get comfortable with anyone in my personal space again but I am glad I am where I am at now and listening to the music on the radio and the music in my own words. #musicheals
Plus, I am enjoying this little monkey my nurse just gave me out of the kids treasure chest for fun. I love my medical team at Freelancers Union Medical like you have no idea.
How do we find balance in this fast-paced world? Slow it down and find the confidence in simplicity. Get inspired by this new article by Healing House Publishing Author, JB Ramos, on lessons of simplicity we can learn from her Lola (Grandma).
by Jb Ramos – Life in the rural outskirts of the Philippines is a setting shared by many regions all around the world—where people survive on a “day-to-day” basis, earning just “enough” money to buy their next meal, feeding themselves and their loved ones. Although to us, their lives may seem simple…
To All you Phenomenal Women! ELEVEN days to go until our NYC event. Are you joining me?
(Gentlemen, please share this with the women you know)
You are a Phenomenal Woman in my book, and you have taught and inspired me, and many.
Furthering my work with Ntozake Shange and Project1VOICE, I share this with you and ask you to share this with all of the Phenomenal Women you know:
When Project1VOICE asked me to think of all the women that have influenced me, taught me something, pointed me in a direction of growth, inspired me with your own journey, taught children, educated the public via publishing/media/music, mothered ideas or mothered children, you came to mind. Plain and simple. I am nominating you, inviting you and hoping you can be a part of this historical event on September 15th. If you know Phenomenal Women, please invite them as well.
September 15th is an important date. It is the day of the bombing that killed the four girls in 1963 and it was the opening night of FOR COLORED GIRLS on Broadway in 1976. The families and faces of the four girls will be included in this photo. Ntozake Shange will be front and center. You will be in the photo with us. This is an opportunity for women of multiple generations across the world to come together in 1VOICE to support each other by being present and strong with one another. The African American female narrative will be unapologetically center stage serving as the focal point for this call to action in support of ALL women.
Project1VOICE is embarking on a three year mission to create programming that sets as its goal the empowerment of women and girls using FOR COLORED GIRLS as the catalyst for conversations and next step strategies. Our launch was the stage readings of FOR COLORED GIRLS which took place at Harlem Hospital in NYC, as well as, other locations worldwide on June 17th.
On September 15, 2014 we would like you to join us for a photograph--inspired by Art Kane's historic GREAT DAY IN HARLEM photo of legendary jazz musicians, on the step of a Harlem brownstone, in 1958. Our photo will be captioned Phenomenal Women: A Great Day FOR COLORED GIRLS in Harlem and Beyond. This photo will feature women of all walks of life who have been pioneers in advancing women. Each of woman will be asked to bring a photo of a woman who has inspired and/or empowered them. These women may be living or deceased, historic, iconic and/or an everyday woman. Diane Robertson-Braddock, sister of Carole Robertson one of the four girls has already confirmed. She will have photographs of both her sister Carole and her mother. The photograph will be taken on the steps of the Harlem Hospital's Mural Pavilion. Photographs like these will be taken over the course of the year in all 50 states and abroad. The photos will make their way to Birmingham by 9/15/15, with plans to have them put on public display at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham, AL.
I would love to get your thoughts and suggestions about this event and other ladies you think we should include for this historic photo in NYC. We would like a strong showing of African, Hispanic, Native and Asian Americans for this photo. However the photo is not exclusive to these women. FOR COLORED GIRLS is truly specific in its pain but universal in its reach. Now is the perfect time to revisit Ntozake's vision of reclamation and self determination that allows us all to uncover and discover the Divine that resides in each of us and truly love her!
We hope to have over 300 women participate here in NYC with thousands to follow in other cites over the next ten months. The idea is to bring women together to share their stories of womanhood--their journeys of survival and overcoming the odds which have kept and continue to keep them strong, vital and alive. These shared narratives will be the catalysts to ignite conversations and next-step strategies to inspire and empower other women and girls.
We would also appreciate any suggestions of women and girls you feel are also Phenomenal Women. The women in the photograph do not have to be in the entertainment industry. Multiple generations of women in a single family, women raising girls of any age and women who are expecting are also encouraged to attend. We envision revisiting these images ten years from now, with great respect and fondness.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you can and would like to participate on Monday, September 15, 2014. This event celebrates you and your phenomenal power and promise!
We hope to gather upwards of 300 women. Easily we all know Phenomenal Woman, so I think this can happen!

Love and Thank You!
