Farm-to-table? More like farm-to-FREE! 🌽

These girls heard there were vegetables on the ground and immediately called an emergency meeting. No plates, no forks, no manners… just four chickens acting like they haven’t eaten in 47 years.

The two brown hens are clearly running the operation, the black chicken is supervising, and the fluffy one is just here for moral support.

Meanwhile, that poor pile of vegetables didn’t even stand a chance. Corn? GONE. Greens? GONE. Orange snacks? GONE. Absolutely nothing is safe when the chicken committee arrives. 🐔💨

I’m pretty sure if I opened the fridge, they’d be standing behind me asking, “So… what else you got?” 😂

Who else has chickens that act like every meal is their LAST meal? 👇🤣

I’m not saying this duck has a food addiction… but I’m also not saying it doesn’t. 😂🦆

Buddy showed up to the dinner table, saw the giant tub of food, and immediately decided, “Yep. This is MY buffet.” 😭

No manners. No sharing. No waiting his turn. Just standing there like he pays the mortgage while holding a whole piece of food in his beak like he’s taking leftovers home. 😂

And look at that face… 👀
That is NOT the face of a duck who feels guilty. That is the face of someone who has already made peace with his decisions and would absolutely do it again.

Meanwhile, the food tub is basically a five-star restaurant, and this guy is the only customer who refuses to use a plate. 🥘😂

I can already hear him saying:

“Don’t worry about me. I’ll just take ONE piece.”

30 minutes later:
“Okay, maybe one more.” 🤣

At this point, I’m pretty sure the duck owns the farm and we’re just lucky enough to live here.

Just to clarify: I never feed my chickens actual bread—only unfed sourdough discard in moderation. 🐔❤️ They’ve enjoyed it for over a year and are thriving with zero health issues. The lactobacilli can be beneficial for chickens, but it’s not suitable for other animals. If you’re concerned, feel free to research sourdough discard for chickens. 😊

Well, I guess we’re chicken owners now! 😂

This little guy randomly showed up in our backyard, and we honestly have no idea how he got here. We heard some chirping noises outside, so of course we had to investigate. After looking around, we discovered this chicken hiding out in the bushes by the pool.

The funny thing is, we’re still trying to figure out how he even managed to get into our yard. We have a pretty tall brick wall on one side and a fence on the other, so it’s not exactly an easy place for a chicken to wander into. The nearest neighbors we know of who have chickens are at least a football field away, so we’re completely stumped.

He also seems to be missing quite a few tail feathers, and there are some bald spots around his neck. We didn’t find any obvious wounds or marks, so we’re wondering if maybe he had a close encounter with a hawk, a cat, or some other predator before finding his way into our backyard. Thankfully, he seemed okay and was just happy to have a safe place to hang out.

At this point, it looks like he has officially decided that our backyard is his new home. 😅

And apparently, we’re now chicken owners because his new coop was delivered TODAY! The plan is to put it together tomorrow and get him settled in properly.

We never planned on getting a chicken, but I guess sometimes they just choose you. 😂

So… welcome to the family, little guy! ❤️

Now we just have to figure out where he came from, how he got over our walls and fence, and what exactly we’re supposed to do with our surprise new chicken! 😂

I saw someone share their chickens with heart markings, so I had to share my daughter’s “love chicken,” Billy! ❤️🐔 She’s a 7-month-old Wyandotte/Ameraucana mix who lays beautiful light-green eggs, making her an Easter Egger. We absolutely LOVE her little hearts! 💕

This beautiful mama is sitting tight on 19 eggs! 🥚🐔 Fingers crossed that lots of those little eggs hatch into healthy chicks! 🐣❤️
