Welcome to EPISODE 4 of my makeover with , where I’m turning Belle Bakst’s boring beige NYC rental into the Marie Antoinette bedroom of her dreams using mostly thrifted and secondhand finds.

After 7 days of thrifting and restoring ALLLL the gilded gaudy goodness, it was finally time to answer the question: OKAY BUT… WHERE ARE YOU PUTTING THAT?!

And I use the term “Installation DAY” very loosely because this actually took THREE DAYS. 😂 Let’s just say really earned his hashtag with this one.

I was feeling REALLY good about my design choices and the room was finally coming together…

Until I threw my engagement ring in the trash.

MY. ENGAGEMENT. RING. 🗑️

I still have NO idea how it slipped off my finger, but THANK GOD it got caught in the plastic and I didn’t have to dig through the actual trash. And by “I,” obviously I mean Alex. Was all the emotional damage worth it?! Are diamonds REALLY a girl’s best friend?! WAS THIS AN OMEN?!?!

Welcome to EPISODE 2 of my room makeover with !

I had a VERY specific Marie Antoinette inspired shopping list and approximately no time to find any of it, so I did what any reasonable person would do: spent the next 7 days obsessively thrifting NYC, stalking Facebook Marketplace in my sleep, and texting my shipper at all hours of the night like, “CAN YOU PLEASE PICK THIS UP RIGHT NOW?!” 😂 (Shoutout to Kris!!)

And somehow?! THE THRIFT GODS WERE LISTENING.

The Draper chests. The desk. The chandelier. The art. The lighting. ALLLL of the gilded gaudy goodness!!! I found almost everything I was looking for, and now we have to bring all this old stuff back to life. ✨

THRIFTSTRAVAGANZA DAY 6 and we’re going HUNTING BB! For antiques and vintage that is😮‍💨 On today’s schedule:..the Chelsea Flea as always 😂 Saw all our friends, scored some amazing custom vintage lampshades, $20 Christian Lacroix suits that I FORGOT TO PHOTOGRAPH 😭 and so many good antiques.
Then I hopped uptown to Pickwick Vintage Show and scored the most INSANE vintage, guipure lace number, I’m OBSESSED. But I can’t stop thinking about those beaded tassel sconces… do I go back for them tomorrow?! 😂👀 I think I fu**ed up there😵‍💫

Remember when I jumped out of my car on the highway because I saw a flea market??? 😂 Get in babe, it’s THRIFTSTRAVAGANZA DAY 5 and we’re going back to the scene of the crime: the once a month flea market under the BQE, BQ Flea 💃🏻! This market has furnitire, home decor, vintage clothes, weird little treasures, jewelryyyy, basically everything I’m willing to risk my life for 👀 and lucky for you because it’s happening THIS SUNDAY!! Def worth a go!! Which is why I’ll probably be there too😂 say hi if you see me!!
