La Catrina, an elegantly dressed iconic character representing the Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) showcased this week at Hudson Yards New York.

As part of our Fall program curation at Hudson Yards, our dear friend + collaborator, Angel Salazar Design, dressed La Catrina, in stunning bright colored florals and SWAROVSKI Crystals.

This holiday and her elegant dress suggests celebration- reminding us that there is perhaps comfort in an acceptance of mortality, and that the dead should be commemorated, not feared. That whoever you are, we all have the same destiny.

Earlier this year we created the Fund to provide Brooklyn’s small businesses recovery resources. This fall we were given the opportunity to help build a citywide initiative to support small businesses across every borough in NYC.

The NYC Small Business Resource Network is a public-private partnership providing business resources to our most vulnerable owners .

In our first campaign video, hear directly from AG, a small business owner in the Bronx. is a culture hub — a retail store that embodies what the Bronx truly is. When Covid hit, retail shop owner Amaurys Grullon was forced to close one of his stores, losing 50% of his revenue.

Although his community was supportive, he didn’t know what to do next.

We recently collaborated with our friends at the to create a small business recovery fund & action plan to build a lifeline for struggling neighborhood businesses.

With contributions from concerned citizens, friends, and corporate partners — we’re proud to share that the Bring Back Brooklyn Fund raised over ✨🎉$735,000🎉✨

This month the Fund began providing grants and loans to local businesses to help in their reopening efforts.

According to the Chamber’s latest survey, 53% of these businesses reported that the next three months will be an uphill battle to stay alive. Nationally, the data isn’t clear yet, but what we do know is that hundreds of thousands of businesses are suffering *now* and are on the verge of closing forever.

Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing — stay connected to the needs of your community because you can make a difference by supporting your local businesses.

Summer in the City. It’s up to us — the locals — to sustain and support the businesses and entrepreneurs of our beloved NYC. Many New Yorkers have left for the summer planning to return, however, our businesses need our support NOW.

In urban environments, versatility and movement are key 🔑

Restaurants have found creative ways to adapt to the new Open Streets layout to keep their businesses alive. The renewed energy has injected into daily life is palpable and the need to support these businesses is even stronger. The new and improved outdoor dining model in our city is a welcome redesign, and we hope it continues to become part of the fabric of our city moving forward.

Every day we get the news that one of our favorite restaurants, hotels and/or retailers closed. This is a friendly PSA to remember to promote, support, and keep it local!

As a small business based in Brooklyn for over 20 years, it has been overwhelming to watch the impact of COVID on our community.

Today, we are honored to work with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to launch the Fund!

This fund will provide community-driven, no-interest loans to Brooklyn’s small businesses. The majority of funding will go to minority and women-owned small businesses who are in need of immediate relief to survive the impact of decreased business caused by the shut down of our economy.

Now, we’re asking everyone to come together like never before to save our local businesses and emerge from this crisis.
