Juan Vindel Farmacia has completed a three-month pilot of a new automated, hands-free purchasing solution from technology startup Futurian. The deal calls for Clustag - Smart RFID Intralogistics to provide Exotec with its patented RFID MOT Station technology. Robots being deployed can climb racks up to 12 meters and retrieve products autonomously, before delivering totes to human-staffed or automatic picking stations. RFID Correlates Birds’ Adventurous Feeding with Social Activity. Research found a cohort of songbirds that display more social behavior are more adventurous in food source choices as well. The study, part of a multi-decade process for University of Oxford, introduced RFID technology in 2007 to identify individual birds and thereby track behaviors for a wide variety of research.

HID Introduces Cloud-Based Uniform Inventory Management Solution. The company’s InvoTech Cloud is being offered as a way to monitor employee uniforms from purchasing through daily use to final discard. The solution enables laundry and housekeeping managers with real-time visibility into inventory levels, usage patterns, and replacement needs, opening up the possibility to prevent overcharges and optimizing costs. Uniform tracking can be established by utilizing RFID or barcodes. RFID Arms Schools with Shooter Detection. A group of Minnesota high school students has launched a nonprofit, Vigilance Safety, that offers a UHF RFID based solution to identify when a gun approaches a school.

The system includes RFID readers at school egresses and tags voluntarily applied to guns by the gun owners, as well as software to manage read data and whitelist permitted guns.
