I kept forgiving who you were because I was too in love with who you could be.

I turn 27 in a couple days and I don’t know, I think birthdays just have a way of making you question your entire life... I have so much to be grateful for and so many things I’m genuinely proud of, but if I’m being really honest, I still feel pretty lost. I spend so much of my time being a mom, working, taking care of everyone, loving people, trying to hold everything together and trying to become a better version of myself that sometimes I look up and realize I don’t even know if I’ve been present for my own life. I think I’ve spent a lot of years waiting. Waiting for things to calm down, waiting to feel safe, waiting to feel sure of myself, waiting to finally feel like me again. And now another birthday is here and I guess I’m realizing I don’t want to keep waiting for some future version of my life to finally feel like mine. I don’t have everything figured out. Honestly, I don’t have much figured out right now. I just know I want 27 to feel less like something I’m trying to get through and more like a life I’m actually here for šŸ¤

Of all the versions of me I’ve fought to become, being their mom will always be my favorite. šŸ¤

I miss people I would never allow back into my life, and I think that’s the part of healing nobody warns you about. You can know better and still miss them anyway.
