Fr. Dave answers your questions! Here's what we answered:
2:50 >> At mass, many times I find myself saying the same words the priest is saying. Is that okay?
12:50 >> We have a new priest in our parish whose first language is not English. I'm curious -- during the liturgy of the Eucharist, the priest says many prayers to himself. Is there a rule or expectation that those prayers are said in the same language as the mass being proclaimed? Or could he easily say those prayers in his head in his native language?
17:50 >> My best friend and I are having a falling out, he has gone Christian and is going through some work/life challenges and he seems to be calling me a hypocrite for posting prayers and motivation and not being patient or forgiving of people. What should I do? Where did I go wrong?
30: 45 >> What can I as lay person do for Eucharistic revival if I already believe in real presence and convincing someone else of real presence is a matter of faith, not convincing?

Fr. Dave answers your questions of faith! Here's what we answered:
3:16 >> The Eucharistic Revival is great. But why give it an expiration date? Why 3 years? Shouldn’t it be all the time? And what happens when / if there’s no increase in 3 years? Do we just give up? I know I won’t! - Elizabeth
16:18 >> Why do Deacons sometimes wear a chasuble and sometimes only the stole when at Sunday Mass? - Tracy
27:28 >> Hello Father Dave and Jen, I have a question that has been on my mind for a few weeks now. Concerning the use of incense at a mass. My church celebrated a feast day for Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Other than Christmas mass, I have not really experienced the use of it on a weekly basis. What determines this? - Laura
33:08 >> Quick question, I cannot receive communion because of my marital status and I've been praying for a change like St Monica. In the meantime, I want to know if communion ministers can bless me if I were to join everyone else as they walk down the aisle to receive or I would need to walk up to the priest's aisle? – Evangelina

Fr. Dave answers your questions of faith! Here's what we answered:
2:16 >> At Mass this past Sunday, my priest mentioned something about a Eucharistic Revival in the Church, but I’m a little unclear about what that means. Can you explain? - Joey
12:17 >> Why do we celebrate Saints Peter and Paul on the same day? - Joanna
26:15 >> What is the significance of placing our palms together when we pray? As a kid, I was taught to pray with the palms of my hands together by both my parents and my catechism teachers. In the end, no one really went into why we should join our palms together like this when praying and no one ever said that God will not hear our prayer if we don't. – Eric
41:45 >> When is the reception of the blood of Christ returning to the Mass? I miss it so! In my heart of hearts I would never blame the sacraments for getting sick. – Patricia

Fr. Dave answers your Ascension questions! Here’s what we answered:
7:35>> Does the Feast of the Ascension get celebrated at different times in different places?
18:40>> We live in a diocese that observes the Ascension on Thursday. We will attend Mass that day. Over the weekend we will be in a diocese that transfers the Ascension to Sunday. Do we still have a Sunday Mass obligation since the liturgy will also be the Ascension and not a Sunday in Easter?
26:05>> I know that the Ascension and the Assumption are different, but to be honest, I do mix them up. Can you help?
33:27>> What commentary would you recommend for reading the Old Testament?
35:58>> What tips can you provide to help one stop committing the same sins over and over requiring confessions for absolution. I seem to find myself in the confessional for the same sins all the time.

3:00 >> My daughter is participating in a “May Crowning” event at school. Why do Catholics do this event? – Terry
8:14 >> I heard Christina is getting married on the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. I don’t know much about this feast day. Can you fill me in? – Susan
15:40 >> Talk to me about cremation and the Catholic church’s view. Is it “allowed?” Is everlasting life with the Lord granted to someone who’s been cremated? - Nikki
19:20 >> I’m feeling fatigued by all the noise/reaction/opinions about the upcoming Roe v. Wade decision on abortion. How can I remain charitable in the midst of what feels like such a heated time in our country? – Lisa
29:20 >> Why is mass celebrated ad orientem looked down upon by many these days? - Joe
44:09 >> Father Dave - are you a "little bit of" or "Cant get enough" incense Priest? - Joe

Fr. Dave answers your Easter Octave questions of faith! Here are the questions we answered today:
3:09: When did Fr. Dave feel closest to Jesus during this most recent trip to the Holy Land?
8:07: Confession Question: I went to confession yesterday (after 10 yrs!), after confessing our sins, when we say, "I am sorry for all the sins and the sins of my past life." (which I got from an instructional booklet), does that encompass all sins we didn't verbally confess to the priest...maybe some we didn't realize were sins and/or that we forgot to confess. Just curious.
16:29: What is the best way to describe the significance of Easter to a 4-year-old who does not understand death, or rising from the dead? Not wanting to scare them.
20:01: Jesus said; "I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” - (so assuming we all make it through The Pearly Gates), and fall to our knees when greeting The Lord, do we need food in Heaven if we are no longer in an earthly body, but a Heavenly body?
23:19: Why does the Celebrant add a drop (or more) of water to the wine before consecration? I guess I am wondering if there is a reason for this tradition?
29:33: Why do we not say the “Gloria” during Lent?
36:53: Fr. Dave, what is the best way to suggest to a Catholic married person, married in another church and not granted the ‘ok’ to marry in another church, to think about having the marriage convalidated? Some words that will not cause defensiveness? They were married 7 years ago.

Fr. Dave answers your LENT questions! Here's what we answered:
3:30 >> How do I know that my goal for Lent is a good one? What elements make a good Lenten sacrifice?
What if I fail in my goal for Lent? How do I know when to give up and make a new goal, or keep trying?
11:05 >> What happens when a solemnity falls on the same day as a Lenten Friday, like the Annunciation this year? Are we supposed to feast or fast?!
17:35 >> At my parish beginning with the First Sunday of Lent the two altar candles are placed on the right side of the altar rather than on either side of the crucifix. I have searched everywhere and cannot find anything to explain this. Can you help me? Love the show. Thanks for your dedication.
21:09 >> What is the history of the Stations of Cross? I know the Stations of the Cross come from Scripture. I was wondering how far back the custom of having the 14 stations displayed in Catholic Churches goes? Also wonder who wrote the first prayer reflections for the Stations of the Cross? I just discovered “Mary’s Way of the Cross”, which Is really very moving and emotionally beautiful.
31:24 >> A fellow church member asked why the holy water bowls we use to bless ourselves as we enter church were still filled. I told her that the emptying only happens on or around Good Friday. Am I correct?

Fr. Dave answers your Lent questions! Here's what we answered:
6:45 >> I am wondering how to fast. What can I drink? Am I able to eat 1 meal or nothing?
15:05 >> Why do Catholics leave Ash on our forehead? Doesn’t that go against today’s Gospel?
& In today's gospel, Jesus says don't let your left hand know what your right is doing. What is the deeper meaning of that verse?
28: 08 >> How many versions are there of what can be said when distributing ashes?
30:50 >> Are there any special Mass elements added into Mass for Lent?

Fr. Dave answers your questions of faith! Here's what we answered:
3:20 >> Can I just go to confession and say ”forgive me for everything -- even the stuff I didn’t know was wrong “ and just be wiped clean and start fresh? Or do I have to name everything -- doesn’t Jesus know anyway?
20:34 >> We have been hearing a lot about the news out of Phoenix, and how one word supposedly invalidated thousands of Sacraments. Can you help explain this to us?
31:12 >> What does it mean when the Bible states “and they ministered to Him”. (Jesus)?
30:50 >> When others “sin” against me, I initially feel offended and frustrated. When I am aware of myself sinning against others, I seek penance. Is it appropriate to instead see others’ “sins” against us as a positive graceful opportunity for them to seek their own penance?

Fr. Dave answering your questions of faith! Here's what we answered:
10:10>> On Sunday I like to watch several Mass services in the U.S., in Europe and Latin America. Why is it that sometimes they read different passages from the Bible? May God continue to bless you and your staff.
19:45>> Can we say the phrase "holy smokes" or anything similar that isn’t connected to The Church?
27:35>> My fiancé isn’t Catholic and I know we can’t get married in the church, but can a priest still marry us? Thank you for all you do! Prayers for you all!
44:10>> My daughter wants to sprinkle her dad’s ashes instead of burying them. He was not Catholic. Should I let her?
48:17>> When do we change from year c to year a?

Fr. Dave answers your questions of faith:
2:50>> I’ve noticed some priests consume all the pieces of the elevated host after it’s been broken, and some priests take a piece of the broken host and distribute the rest of it. Is there a special Grace when you are given a piece of the broken Host at communion?
21:30>> Is it true that you should not eat one hour before receiving communion?
28:55>> Where does the word soul come from? What is the Catholic teaching on what a soul is? Is “soul” mentioned in the Bible? Is the soul the same as one’s spirituality?
36:55>> Peace! I've had this question for a while and just now remembered to ask it. At mass I see people kissing their thumb either before or after making the Sign of the Cross. Why do they do this?
43:20>> I probably need to get over this, but isn’t Orans position a very Protestant thing and raising hands higher at ‘the kingdom, the power’ etc? It’s totally distracting and I’ve heard many time that the priest’s hands are up, as he is blessing us. We shouldn’t be copying him. Make it stop (or should I just close my eyes)?

Fr. Dave answers your questions of faith! Here's what we answered:
6:30>> I saw a news article about Pope Francis scolding couples who choose to have pets instead of having children. I don’t have children, but have adopted several dogs from local shelters and am having trouble believing this is “selfish” of me.
26:20>> Are you live at the “Vatican” Padre?
27:30>> I have a question regarding the Diaconate… what if an individual is feeling a call to be a deacon, however his wife is saying ‘no way’? From my understanding, the diaconate is a 2-person husband-and-wife commitment. If the wife is not committed, does that mean the feeling the gentleman is feeling not from the Lord?
41:30>> What are the 12 days of Christmas? Is it the birth of Jesus through the Epiphany?

Fr. Dave answers your questions! Here's what we answered:
2:25 >> Question of Faith regarding The Holy Spirit. Was the Holy Spirit always present on earth, and if so, were Old Testament people aware of the presence? Or, Did the Holy Spirit arrive on Earth on Pentecost? Or were people just made aware of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost but The Holy Spirit was always on earth?”
13: 30 >> If two Catholics are married in a civil wedding, are they okay to receive Communion?
20:19 >> I mentioned to my husband that I would like to take an RCIA class to better learn and understand my Faith, although I’ve been a Catholic all my life and Live my Religion. I was surprised when he stated that would be offensive to our Religion because it would seem I have not done my homework and devotion to our Religion. I was saddened and felt I had disappointed my Faith in considering this. What is your take on this, Father Dave?
28:40 >> Is St Anne’s husband , Joachim, and our Blessed Mother’s father, considered a saint?
30:30 >> I’m Protestant and I don’t understand relics. If a person alive today knows they have the potential to be a saint, could they allocate parts to potential takers? “I leave my finger to (fill in the blank)...”. I have no issues with Catholicism itself but some things seem so foreign .
38:00 >> Hi Father Dave, how do I know when God’s answer is a No? We have been praying and prayed for God to show us his will. We sold our house a year ago and haven’t been able to buy one due to the huge increase in market prices. So we shifted to building a house and so many things have gone wrong. Prices sky rocketed and we had to decide to continue, wait or make a lot of changes to our plans. Then, when we thought we were ready, the day we locked in our interest rate it -- went up! We are having a hard time deciding if it’s God’s will that we not continue or if he’s just saying we can’t have everything we want or everything our way. I need your Fa

Fr. Dave answering your questions of faith! Here's what we answered:
3:22 >> I grew up Pentecostal but I've recently started attending a local Catholic church. The thing I'm having a hard time with is the lack of emotion/excitement. The creator of the universe loves us. Why aren't Catholics shouting it from the rafters and telling everyone? The monotone chanting is a hard thing for me to get used to. Any suggestions?
19:45 >> Why are non-Catholics who are divorced required to go through the annulment process? Especially if they were married for only 2 years.
23:56 >> How is Michael the Archangel both a Saint and an angel?
28:45 >> So yesterday at mass the priest did not say the Creed. Sometimes they miss the Lord have mercy but this was a first. Was it a mass-hap?
34: 55 >> Is it normal to question our faith at times? I find myself trying to line up the timeline of creation with scientific timelines for earth’s creation and the start of life on it, down to the cellular level.

Fr. Dave answers your questions! Here's what we answered:
3:40 >> Is it forbidden by the Catholic Church to be hypnotized?
11:30 >> My girlfriend was born and raised Catholic and I am Protestant. We often have really deep discussions of faith that we both really enjoy. However, she said something tonight that really took me by surprise... she said that the Catholic church believes everyone goes to heaven, no matter their religion, as long as they are good people. I really find it hard to believe this is a doctrine of the Church, but she swears that it is. Is this true?
21:18 >> My son and daughter-in-law have a 4-month-old baby and have decided not to baptize him. Though both parents were raised Catholic (my son even went to Catholic school!), received the sacraments and were married in the Catholic Church they do not feel they can rightfully baptize their son in the Catholic church because they are not actively participating at this time (are not members of a church nor attend on Sundays). I have tried to suggest that baptizing their son may lead them back to the church and that circumstances change and they may very well return to their faith. Am I wrong to push for my Grandson to be baptized?
29:30 >> Can I Baptize my grandchildren myself? - Geri
35:30 >> I have been married a few times, I’m kinda a fallen catholic. I’m also a widower. Could I be welcomed back to the church?
40:17 >> My question is about all life from conception to natural death. Many in my prayer group said the church is OK with the death penalty, I disagree can you clarify this for me?
