Excited to be going into the New Year with some amazing buzz for 2020 books. Check out these advance blurbs from some of the biggest authors in the world and some of the hottest rising stars for Leslie Streeter's powerful and funny memoir BLACK WIDOW, out in March from Little, Brown and Company. Happy New Year!

"Black Widow is a very special one of a kind book, a wonderfully touching love story that will make you laugh and cry, sometimes on the same page. Even more outstanding is Leslie Gray Streeter's voice. You won't soon forget Black Widow." --James Patterson

"I can only marvel at Leslie Streeter's resilience,
humor and candor. Black Widow is a funny, heartwarming read about one of the worst things that can happen to a person. We should all be this grounded in our day-to-day lives." --Laura Lippman

"Tender, clever and endearing, this story of love and loss will have you alternating between laughter and tears. Leslie's mix of break-it-down humor and heartbreaking truth makes this book playful and deep in all the right places." --Tembi Locke, author of From Scratch

“Black Widow” is a beautiful love story that also happens to be a grief story. Leslie Gray Streeter tells the whole tale—falling in love, marriage, adopting, parenthood, death, moving on—with her captivating wit. Only she could make Black Widow so deeply moving, painfully funny, altogether unforgettable.” --Rob Sheffield, author of Love is a Mix Tape

“Grief is a heavy darkness with spots of unexpected, unpredictable light. Leslie’s book is a light for those still stuck in the dark--a sad, funny, personal story filled with universal truths about life and love and loss.” --Nora McInerny, author of No Happy Endings

"This is a great read for anyone who's suffered loss of a loved one. I'd say it's chicken soup for any soul in grief. Anyone who reads this will undoubtably feel consoled."
--Aphrodite Jones, author of Cruel Sacrifice

"Walking in Leslie's shoes through this book made me humbled and filled with courage. It made me realize how much I love my family and that LOVE conquers all. I’m sorry to see the book end. I can’t recommend it enough." --actor Johnathon Schaech

'Colors of the Mountain' author Da Chen dies at 57

I am saddened to share the news of the passing of Da Chen, a wonderful writer and friend who I had the privilege of working with for the last fifteen years. Da's many bestselling books, including the memoirs Colors of the Mountain and Sounds of the River, the novel Brothers, and his most recent children's book, Girl Under a Red Moon, just published this past September, continue to move readers around the world and will keep his voice alive forever. Da was a special man, an artist who touched people with seemingly endless generosity and mentorship and joy as well as with his words on the page. We will miss him and send our deepest condolences to his wife Sunny, his son Michael and daughter Victoria and the rest of his friends and family.

Chen's breakthrough came in 1999 with the critically acclaimed, best-selling “Colors of the Mountain,“ in which he recounted the abuses he and his family suffered during the latter years of China's Cultural Revolution.

We are incredibly privileged to wish a happy pub day to three amazing books and authors today. Kate Benson McQuade's linked story collection TELL ME WHO WE WERE has already been compared to Elizabeth Strout and Helen Oyeyemi, and was just called "an arresting debut" in The Boston Globe; Marcy Dermansky's highly anticipated fourth novel VERY NICE just added a rave in Entertainment Weekly with an A- grade and a wonderful review in Newsday, which declared "Connecticut will never be the same," to its heaps of buzz and early praise; and activist and motivational speaker Damon West's collaboration with NYT bestselling author Jon Gordon, THE COFFEE BEAN, is still the #1 new release in Business and Finance on Amazon, raking in the preorders, and poised to break out. Damon's story is truly incredible and inspirational. We are so lucky to work with these talented and dedicated authors! Happy pub day to all! Please check them out. Links in the comments below.

Another amazing advance blurb for Marcy Dermansky, just in:

"VERY NICE is deceptively polite, a gracious rebuke to every writer who has sworn it's impossible to write about the times in which we live. Marcy Dermansky found the way in, spotted the connections holding our fragmented world together and made them sing. Her best book to date, which is saying quite a lot."

Leslie Streeter

Two years ago today, I wrote the following post on my private page lamenting that no one seemed to be willing to look outside the box to represent my book, and said that I just needed one to believe in it. Two days later I queried a guy named Rick Pascocello of Glass Literary Management, who emailed me back in like three hours. He got it. We sold "Black Widow" a year and a half later. Just goes to show you - sometimes you have to hold on and hope somebody hears you. Don't stay in your lane if it's better to make your own.

"One of the issues I am having as I pitch my memoir is that the majority of published memoirs by black authors are either specifically about race and being black, or by celebrities. It irks me that it's hard to get the attention of people who just want to hear a universal story that most can relate to of widowhood, loss, single parenting, adoption and survival but through the filter of someone who is black. Our voices are good and strong for more than stories about The Struggle. If I can relate to Joan Didion, others can relate to me. I have another good possibility and a bite from an industry vet with some very impressive credits. We will see."
