🎙️ PORCHTIME & PAJAMAS
Final Week
Just like that summer is over, school is starting, fall is around the corner and our Saturday selahs have come to a close.
Hard to believe it’s been twenty weeks already. Twenty Saturdays spent on the porch together. What a beautiful way to spend Saturday mornings in the Spring and Summer.
These Selah moments were birthed from my own quiet time with the Lord where I spend my early mornings with Him on my front porch the minute the warmer weather rolls around. And what a pure joy it’s been to share this time with you, followIng His leading Saturday after Saturday as He fed us from Proverbs and Psalms.
I kind of hate to see it come to an end, but I also know that this next season is coming in weighty and wisdom dictates the release of some things in order to make room for the next step.
Speaking of steps, we’re going to end this Selah series with just that thought…
Last week we gleaned from Proverbs 16:32 and learned that ’true strength’ comes from the capacity of governing our own spirit.
And today we’re going to sit and soak in Psalm 37:23
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”
Because, there’s something deeply comforting about knowing your steps are not random. That your life isn’t accidental, or forgotten…or unnoticed.
The Hebrew word for “ordered” here is ‘Kun’, which means established, made firm…prepared with intention.
Meaning God isn’t improvising your life. He’s establishing it. Even through the detours, delays and uncertainty…
He is still ordering your steps.
And sometimes what feels like interruption is actually divine direction.
Because we often only see the step in front of us.
But God sees the entire pathway.
He’s not just guiding our destination.
He is guiding our formation.
The scripture goes on to say:
“He delights in his way…”
Meaning God isn’t frustrated with your journey. He is present IN it.
Even in the imperfect steps.
Even in the learning.
Even in the slow growth.
So, we never need to panic about where we are in our journey. We simply need to trust that even our steps are being shaped by a faithful God.
And though we’ve come to the close of this 20-week Saturday Selah journey, this is not an ending. It’s simply a crossing.
Because something has shifted in you across these weeks—quietly…slowly…deep in the unseen places.
The way you think.
The way you pause.
The way you hear Scripture.
The way you respond instead of react.
The way you return to stillness.
What began as a porch moment…has become a posture.
A way of living slower…
A way of listening deeper…
and letting the Word of God read you before you try to interpret everything around you.
And maybe that’s what this season was always meant to do.
Not just give you devotionals…
but form a rhythm in your spirit.
A rhythm of trust like batach…
of stillness like raphah…
of waiting like qavah…
of peace like shalom…
of delight like anag…
A rhythm of becoming.
And now you step forward differently.
Not rushed.
Not scattered.
Not overwhelmed by noise.
But anchored.
Rooted in the quiet confidence that God has been with you in every step—even the ones you didn’t understand at the time.
So as you move into this next season…Don’t lose the peace.
Don’t lose the pause.
Don’t lose the sacred practice of Selah…of letting your soul breathe before the world demands your attention.
Because the voice of God is still found - not in the rush - but in the stillness.
You’ve discovered the wonder of resting before beginning.
Of slowing down and allowing the scripture to read you.
So now you can continue to practice your own Saturday Selah moments with The Lord.
And when you need a little help, you can always come back here and re-listen to the Porchtime & Pajamas podcast episodes, where these Selah moments can continue to unfold for you in real time.
Slow conversations, scripture reflection…and space to breathe again in the Word of God.
So go back anytime you need to slow down…
anytime you need to reset…
anytime you need to sit on the porch again.
There’s always room for you there.
Because the porch Selah isn’t just a place you visit…it’s a place you now carry within you.
Grace and Peace 🕊️🌿
