In less than two months, President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth say U.S. forces have killed 34 people in a string of strikes on alleged drug-smuggling boats across the Caribbean and Pacific.

Trump claims the campaign is part of an “armed conflict” with cartels — invoking the same legal basis used after 9/11. But critics, including members of Congress and U.N. experts, warn he’s bypassing Congress and escalating tensions in Latin America without clear proof or authorization.

Grio Fam, how far should a president’s war powers go in the name of fighting drugs?

The legal battles over Trump’s National Guard deployments are heating up. A judge in Chicago just extended a restraining order blocking troops from entering the city — unless the U.S. Supreme Court steps in. Meanwhile, cases in Portland, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Memphis are challenging whether the president can use the military to police American streets.

, do you think the federal government should have the power to send in the National Guard without states’ consent? 👀💭

National Guard troops won't be deploying in the Chicago area anytime soon unless the U.S. Supreme Court intervenes after a judges' ruling.

Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is weighing her next big move. The outspoken Democrat confirmed she’s “strongly considering” a run for the U.S. Senate in 2026 — a race that could reshape the political map in one of the country’s most closely watched states.

Crockett, known for her sharp exchanges on Capitol Hill and fiery defense of voting rights and equity issues, says her decision will come down to whether the data shows she can win statewide. If she enters, she’d be part of a new wave of Black women taking on higher office across the South.
