Onur Tukel champions the anti-establishment #independentfilm scene in #Brooklyn by consistently pumping out script after script on seemingly every issue and controversy. White men specifically being the central antagonists who ultimately get overrun is certainly refreshing. Not to mention that this footage has morphed over the last three years from being a feature to an episodic pilot series to again a feature. He’s a master editor and every time I see a version of this, I’m a different character in proximity. Happy to see this new #trailer publish on #Juneteenth, as its central theme of rampant #gentrification is a reminder of how wildly far we have to go, even while celebrating how far we’ve come.
And as a sidenote and coincidence to the timing of this trailer release, I am again tomorrow (after obviously quite the pause) filming with a masked skeleton crew perhaps the most fiercely biting #political scene of my life thusfar, written/directed by Onur, opposite an actor I’ve utterly adored since 1992, on none other than my golden birthday. What a gift. ✨🎥✨
