Did you know the first photograph ever taken required about eight hours of exposure? In 1826, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce captured the world’s earliest surviving photograph from a window in France. The image was made using a camera obscura and a light-sensitive material called bitumen.

And that’s how the world’s first photograph took almost an entire day to capture.
