James Bambu: "New Classic R&B"
"I think what I’m even more naturally capable of doing is alternative soul music, because I love soul music. And when people hear my music, they point out the fact that my vocals are soulful and that it has a juicy, colorful R&B sound. Right now R&B is more popular, so while I want to do complete alternative soul project, the game and the people that I’m working with are not as completely open to doing everything that I want to. The way I see it is that as long as I am getting to write my own music about whatever I want to express and make it sound how I want it to sound and it still falls under the umbrella category of R&B, then that’s fine." - James Bambu

Elle Winston x R.LEGACY
"I am hugely influenced by the experiences of brown people, more specifically brown women - those in my life and ones who’s stories I’ve seen. Lifting up those struggles and triumphs is a theme in my music. I’m also really influenced by my relationship with my wife and my family, which both serve as the most constant foundation in my life." - Elle Winston. Josué "JQ" Quiñones: Founder of Success Is A Lifestyle Program...
"I think success has a varying definition for everyone, it’s going to depend on your environment growing up, who you’re around, what you’re exposed to, and what you hope for yourself. I think we have to define success for ourselves and for people of color we definitely need to be educated and for me being educated in whatever form. College isn’t necessarily for everyone but that doesn’t mean you’re not educated. Just having life experience can be educational for people. I think our success hinges on fellowship and educating people with wisdom and love so that more people can have access to that information. We need each other and like I mentioned before we can’t succeed on our own. We need each other to build. It’s so easy for us to be divided right now." - Josue Quinones / stories.rlegacymag.com / #rlegacy #stories #interviews
Kleaver & Walter Cruz
"Kleaver and I can agree that we never try to give back, but instead are always trying to build and help other people out. The idea of giving back creates need. We don’t want people to feel as though they’re needy but instead you have it in you, we’re just trying to help bring it out." - Walter Cruz + Kleaver Cruz. #rlegacy #stories #interviews. Austin Horton
One of R.LEGACY core values it to highlight individuals and organizations that are using their talents and skills for the betterment of others. Individuals like Austin Horton (@sight.beyond.sound), who at the Our Bloc's Building Black Legacy Conference, shared with us the work he and his company, BWC Garments, does to uplift the community. Not only do they produce organic products here in the USA, they seek to provide people of color in Philly with quality garments. Stay tuned as we share more individuals we got to meet at the conference this past weekend. #rlegacy | rlegacymag.com
The workshops during @our_bloc "Building Black Legacy" conference helped industry executives connect with students seeking insight into roles such as marketing, advertising, journalism, media, and entrepreneurship just to name a few. 📹: @j.thibeaux #rlegacy #bloc #bloccon16
