History of capitalism The history of capitalism can be traced back to early forms of merchant capitalism practiced in Western Europe during the Middle Ages. It began to develop into its modern form during the Early Modern period in the Protestant countries of North-Western Europe, especially the Netherlands and England. Traders in Amsterdam and London created the first chartered joint-stock companies driving up commerce and trade, and the first stock exchanges and banking and insurance institutions were established. Over the course of the past five hundred years, capital has been accumulated by a variety of different methods, in a variety of scales, and associated with a great deal of variation in the concentration of economic power and wealth. Much of the history of the past five hundred years is concerned with the development of capitalism in its various forms. Since 2000 the new scholarly field of "History of Capitalism" has appeared, with courses in history departments. It includes topics such as insurance, banking and regulation, the political dimension, and the impact on the middle classes, the poor and women and minorities. Crisis of the 14th century According to some historians, the modern capitalist system has its origin in the "crisis of the fourteenth century", a conflict between the land-owning aristocracy and the agricultural producers, or serfs. Manorial arrangements inhibited the development of capitalism in a number of ways. Serfs had obligations to produce for lords and therefore had no interest in technological innovation; they also had no interest in cooperating with one another since they produced to sustain their own families. The lords who owned the land relied on force to guarantee that they were provided with sufficient food. Because lords were not producing to sell on the market, there was no competitive pressure for them to innovate. Finally, because lords expanded their power and wealth through military means, they spent their wealth

LOGAN EVAN THOMAS Live Concert Film At Steinway & Sons, NYC COMING SOON TO: http://www.caverockmusic.com Award Winning Pianist and Filmmaker Team Up To Create A Dynamic Live Concert Film At Steinway & Sons, NYC Manhattan, NYC (Dec. 15th, 2015)- On Friday Dec. 25th, the “first of it’s kind” live solo piano concert by pianist Logan Evan Thomas at Steinway & Sons, NYC will be available for the world to see. Instead of hosting the concert in a private performance room upstairs, Mr. Thomas was influenced by the original founders’ idea of a public performance space, and insisted that it were to be held in the showroom on street level in order to maximize visibility to the public passer-byers. Although this idea had never before been executed at Steinway & Sons, NYC, artistic visionary director Jazart Rex, in collaboration with Jalreign Media, Caverock Music jumped at the opportunity, creating the enhanced ambience of the performance arena, and capturing the performance with a creative multi angle camera shoot. Together, Thomas and Rex were able to create a dynamic, interactive live concert experience film. In addition to the full one hour and 30 minute complete concert edition, Jazart Rex has created a series of completely new individual song edits with a bit more of his signature video art infused in, and will be releasing each song separately following the original feature release. None of this would have been possible without the help of Steinway representative, Aaron Kruziki who saw the vision and pulled the strings to help create the event.
