To the neighbor who posted on Nextdoor that my dog Ace is a "ticking time bomb" just because he barked at the mailman:

Let’s talk about Ace.

Ace is a German Shepherd.
One of those dogs people think they already understand.
One of those breeds labeled "intense" before anyone sees the heart behind the eyes.
One of those faces people assume is always on guard.

But here’s what they don’t know:

Ace was evaluated for advanced obedience and protection work.
You know why he didn’t continue?

Because he wasn’t aggressive enough.

When trainers pushed for bite response, he hesitated.
Not out of fear
but because hurting someone simply isn’t who he is.

Instead, he stayed close.
Watched.
Waited.
Chose calm over chaos.

That’s not failure.
That’s character.

And if anyone really wants to understand Ace,
they don’t need rumors.

They just need to look at him right here.

Lying low on the floor.
Head down.
Eyes soft.
Completely at peace in the place he loves.

Not tense.
Not dangerous.
Just present.

Last month, at 2 a.m., my autistic son slipped out of the house.
Cold night. Empty streets. That kind of fear that hits instantly.

Ace didn’t bark.
Didn’t panic.

He followed.

Nearly five miles in the dark
through quiet roads and wooded paths no child should be alone in.

When I found them,
my son was asleep.

And Ace
curled beside him.
Keeping him warm.
Watching everything.

When something moved nearby,
Ace didn’t attack.

He warned.
Low. Steady. Controlled.

And then he stayed.

He always stays.

This dog is not a ticking time bomb.
He is the reason I sleep at night.

A protector.
A guardian.
A German Shepherd who proves every single day
that loyalty is stronger than fear.

So no
danger isn’t Ace.

The only explosive thing here
is ignorance.

Ace is staying 🏡💙

Time feels different when you have a Husky by your side. The years go by, but the love only grows stronger. No matter how many memories you make, it never feels like enough. That’s why every moment matters. Love them deeply while you can.

PRESCOTT VALLEY MOURNS THE LOSS OF K9 MAC 💔
OUR SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE PVPD.

A true hero. A loyal partner. A protector of our community.
The Prescott Valley Police Department is mourning the unexpected loss of K9 Mac, who passed away peacefully in his sleep over the weekend.
K9 Mac joined PVPD in September 2024 and quickly proved himself as an elite working dog, earning full certification through the National Police Canine Association by December. At just 2½ years old, his impact was nothing short of remarkable.
In his short time serving Prescott Valley, Mac completed 45 deployments and helped remove dangerous substances and weapons from our streets, including:
• 14 pounds of fentanyl
• 5 pounds of methamphetamine
• Co***ne and multiple fi****ms tied to drug-related crimes
He also stood side by side with officers during patrol and SWAT operations, always ready, always focused, always loyal.
Our hearts go out to his handler, Officer Justin Ellison, his family, the K9 Unit, and the entire PVPD team during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be announced soon so the community can honor a life that gave so much.
"Rest easy, Mac. We’ll take it from here."

HE WAS OUR SHIELD — K-9 ATLAS 🕊️🐕‍🦺🚓

Some heroes wear a badge… others wear a K-9 vest and run toward danger without hesitation. Today, a department mourns the loss of K-9 Atlas, a five-year-old Belgian Malinois who gave everything to protect the officers beside him. He wasn’t just a working dog—he was the heart of his team.

Atlas was known for his fearless drive in high-risk operations, but off duty, he was simply a loyal companion—resting beside his handler after long nights, quiet and steady. Then came the call that would change everything.

During a late-night raid on an armed fugitive, the team was met with sudden gunfire. An ambush. In that split second, Atlas moved first—charging straight toward the threat, giving his team the moment they needed to respond and survive.

No officers were lost.
But Atlas took the bullets meant for them.

As his handler held him close, Atlas fought through his final moments… and gave one last gentle wag of his tail before slipping away. Later, his handler said the words that defined him best: “He was our shield.”

Rest easy, Atlas. Your watch has ended… but your courage never will. 🐾💙

To the receptionist at the pediatric clinic in Oceanside, California who stepped around the front desk and quietly asked if the dog could “wait outside tied to something” while the appointment happened,

She meant well.
She was also asking the wrong thing of the wrong dog.

His name is Chief Petty Officer Anchor. He is a 93 pound German Shepherd with a chest so broad his handler jokes that he has his own zip code. He has a scar across his right eyebrow from a rooftop clearance operation in Erbil, Iraq in 2018 that his handler does not joke about.

Anchor served six years with Naval Special Warfare, SEAL Team support operations, as a multi purpose K9. He was a water insertion specialist, meaning he deployed from boats, from submarines, and twice from low altitude aircraft into maritime environments that most working dogs never encounter in a full career.

He completed 38 operational missions. He never once failed a water insertion. He never once lost his handler in the dark.

His handler, Senior Chief Petty Officer Damon Wakefield, returned from his final deployment with a TBI and bilateral hearing loss. Anchor’s secondary role, completely self appointed, nobody trained it, became sound alert dog. He wakes Wakefield when the baby cries. He nudges him when someone knocks. He has become, without paperwork or certification, the reason a Navy SEAL’s household functions.

The appointment was for Wakefield’s eight month old daughter.

Anchor had been with her since the day they brought her home from the hospital.

He came inside.
Nobody asked again.

Share for Anchor. Six years in the water so his family could have dry land.
