Laurel and Hardy were supposed to fix one leaking pipe. Somehow, they turned the repair into a full-scale emergency.

Laurel: “Ollie, I think the pipe is broken.”

Hardy: “I know, Stanley.”

Laurel: “Then why are you hitting it?”

Hardy: “Because I'm fixing it.”

Laurel: “With a wrench?”

Hardy: “Yes.”

Laurel: “And the sparks?”

Hardy: “Ignore those.”

Laurel: “And the water?”

Hardy: “Ignore that too.”

Laurel: “What should I pay attention to?”

Hardy pauses.

Hardy: “The ladder.”

Laurel: “Why?”

Hardy: “Because you're standing underneath it.”

Laurel looks up.

A burst of water hits Hardy directly in the face.

Laurel: “Ollie?”

Hardy: “What?”

Laurel: “I think the pipe is winning.”

Hardy slowly looks at the exploding pipe.

Hardy: “Stanley…”

Laurel: “Yes?”

Hardy: “Go get the plumber.”

Laurel: “Which one?”

Hardy: “The one who doesn't know us.”

And that was the moment their plumbing career ended before it even started.

Would you let Laurel and Hardy repair a pipe in your house?

Be honest — who would make the bigger mess: Laurel or Hardy?

They were hired to move one piano… but somehow Laurel became the piano’s safety equipment.

Laurel: “Ollie, is this rope supposed to be around me?”

Hardy: “No, Stanley. It’s supposed to hold the crate.”

Laurel: “Then why am I holding the crate?”

Hardy: “Because the rope is holding you.”

Laurel: “That doesn’t sound right.”

Hardy: “For once, Stanley, you’re absolutely correct.”

Laurel: “Should I let go?”

Hardy: “Absolutely not!”

Laurel: “Why?”

Hardy: “Because I haven't figured out what happens when you do.”

Laurel looks up at the swinging crate.

Laurel: “Ollie, what’s inside?”

Hardy: “A piano.”

Laurel: “Does it know how to play?”

Hardy: “Not yet.”

The crate suddenly swings toward them.

Laurel: “Ollie!”

Hardy: “Stanley!”

Laurel: “I think the piano wants to come down!”

Hardy: “Then let it come down somewhere else!”

And that was the day they discovered an important rule of moving furniture: never stand underneath the thing you’re trying to move.

Would you trust Laurel and Hardy to move your piano?

Be honest — who would you blame when the crate comes down?

When Laurel and Hardy were hired to handle a little fire problem, they somehow managed to make the fire look like the safest thing in the room.

Laurel: “Ollie, I think something is burning.”

Hardy: “I know, Stanley.”

Laurel: “What is it?”

Hardy: “Your hat.”

Laurel: “My hat?”

Hardy: “No. The hat under your hat.”

Laurel: “I only have one hat.”

Hardy: “Then we're already in trouble.”

Laurel: “Should I use the hose?”

Hardy: “Yes, Stanley. That's generally what a hose is for.”

Laurel looks at the enormous coil of hose.

Laurel: “Where's the water?”

Hardy slowly looks at the smoking sprayer in his hand.

Hardy: “I was hoping you knew.”

A long silence.

Laurel: “Ollie?”

Hardy: “Yes?”

Laurel: “Why is my ladder on fire?”

Hardy looks at the ladder.

Hardy: “Because, Stanley… you left it too close to the fire.”

Laurel: “But you told me to stay close.”

Hardy: “I meant close to me, not close to the flames!”

And just like that, the fire department became the only department they hadn't accidentally destroyed.

Would you trust Laurel and Hardy with a fire hose?

When Laurel and Hardy decide to do electrical work… even the walls start getting nervous.

Laurel: “Ollie, is this wire supposed to smoke?”

Hardy: “No, Stanley.”

Laurel: “Then why is it smoking?”

Hardy: “Because you connected it.”

Laurel: “I thought you told me to connect the wires.”

Hardy: “I told you to connect the right wires.”

Laurel: “How do I know which ones are right?”

Hardy: “The ones that don't explode.”

Laurel looks at the smoking box.

Laurel: “That seems like useful information.”

Hardy: “Stanley, hand me the hammer.”

Laurel: “Why?”

Hardy: “Because I'm beginning to think electricity needs convincing.”

Laurel hands him the hammer.

Laurel: “Should I turn the power off first?”

Hardy freezes.

Hardy: “...You didn't?”

A spark pops from the wall.

Both stare at it.

Laurel: “Ollie?”

Hardy: “Yes, Stanley?”

Laurel: “I think the house just answered.”

And that was the moment they discovered that “Do-It-Yourself” does not mean “Do-It-With-Laurel-and-Hardy.”

Would you let these two repair your house?

Laurel: “Ollie… I think the pipe is leaking.”

Hardy: “I can see that, Stanley.”

Laurel: “I was trying to fix it.”

Hardy: “With what?”

Laurel: “The wrench.”

Hardy: “Then why is the water coming out sideways?”

Laurel: “I tightened it.”

Hardy: “How much?”

Laurel: “Until it stopped.”

Hardy looks at the pipe.

Water is spraying everywhere.

Hardy: “It clearly did not stop.”

Laurel: “The water stopped coming out of the pipe.”

Hardy: “Where did it go?”

Laurel looks down at his completely soaked overalls.

Laurel: “Apparently… into me.”

Hardy slowly raises the wrench.

Hardy: “Give me that.”

Laurel: “Why?”

Hardy: “Because I’d like to save what’s left of the house.”

Laurel looks at the flooded floor.

Laurel: “Do you think the chair is supposed to be floating?”

Hardy turns around.

The chair is, in fact, floating.

Hardy: “No.”

Laurel: “Then I think we fixed the wrong pipe.”

And with that, their plumbing career officially moved from “minor repair” to “call somebody who actually knows what they're doing.”

Laurel: “Ollie… I think I’ve made a small mistake.”

Hardy: “Small?”

Laurel: “Well… technically, yes.”

Hardy looks at the ladder.

Then at the pile of tools.

Then at Laurel sitting underneath the wreckage like he’s waiting for lunch.

Hardy: “Stanley, what happened?”

Laurel: “I was fixing the ladder.”

Hardy: “Why?”

Laurel: “It was broken.”

Hardy: “And now?”

Laurel: “Now it’s more broken.”

Hardy takes a deep breath.

Hardy: “How many tools did you use?”

Laurel: “All of them.”

Hardy: “Why?”

Laurel: “I wanted to make sure I used the correct one.”

Hardy stares at him.

Hardy: “And did you?”

Laurel: “I’m not sure. But I found several other problems.”

Hardy: “Where?”

Laurel points proudly at the pile of broken pieces.

Laurel: “Everywhere.”

Hardy looks at the wreckage again.

Hardy: “Put it back together.”

Laurel: “Which part?”

Hardy: “The ladder!”

Laurel: “Oh. I thought you meant the workshop.”

At that moment, Hardy realizes the safest thing they can repair today is probably their friendship.

Now tell us — who would you trust with a toolbox: LAUREL or HARDY?

Laurel: “Ollie… why is there paint on my suit?”

Hardy: “Because you’re standing underneath the brush.”

Laurel: “I noticed that.”

Hardy: “Then move.”

Laurel: “I would, but you’re holding the ladder.”

Hardy: “I’m holding it so you don’t fall.”

Laurel: “I’m not the one painting.”

Hardy: “Exactly. You’re the target.”

Laurel: “Ollie…”

Hardy: “Yes?”

Laurel: “Why is the paint dripping on my hat?”

Hardy looks up.

A long pause.

Hardy: “Stanley… that’s not paint.”

Laurel: “WHAT?”

Hardy: “Never mind.”

At this point, Laurel has paint on his jacket, his hat, his sleeves and probably his patience.

Hardy, meanwhile, is still standing on the ladder like everything is going according to plan.

Laurel: “Are we finished?”

Hardy: “Almost.”

Laurel: “Almost what?”

Hardy: “Almost out of paint.”

Laurel: “Good.”

Hardy: “And we haven’t painted the wall yet.”

Laurel: “Ollie…”

Hardy: “Yes?”

Laurel: “I think we should become accountants.”

Hardy: “Finally, a sensible idea.”

They opened a repair shop… and somehow managed to break the bicycle they were supposed to fix.

Laurel: “Ollie, I think I found the problem.”

Hardy: “Good. What is it?”

Laurel: “The wheel is over there.”

Hardy: “And where is the rest of the bicycle?”

Laurel: “Also over there.”

Hardy looks at the bicycle frame.

Then at the wheel in Laurel’s hand.

Then at the empty repair box.

Hardy: “Stanley… why did you take the whole thing apart?”

Laurel: “You told me to find the problem.”

Hardy: “I meant find one problem!”

Laurel: “Well, now there are several.”

Hardy closes his eyes for a moment.

Hardy: “Can you put it back together?”

Laurel looks at the pile of parts.

Laurel: “Absolutely.”

Hardy: “Good.”

Laurel: “I just need to remember where these came from.”

Hardy immediately realizes they have reached the point where the bicycle is no longer the biggest problem.

And judging by that empty repair shop behind them, this may not be their first customer.

Now the important question: who would you trust with your bicycle — Laurel or Hardy?

Comment LAUREL or HARDY — and tell us what you think happens next.

Share this with the friend who always says, “I can fix it,” before making it twice as complicated.

Laurel: “Ollie, are you sure this vase is supposed to be here?”

Hardy: “Of course. I’m helping you move it.”

Laurel: “Then why am I the one holding it?”

Hardy: “Because you’re closer to the floor.”

Laurel: “That doesn’t seem like a good reason.”

Hardy: “It was the best one I had.”

Laurel tries to straighten the vase.

Hardy tries to straighten Laurel.

Neither succeeds.

Laurel: “I think the vase is too heavy.”

Hardy: “It’s not the vase.”

Laurel: “What is it?”

Hardy: “You.”

Laurel: “Oh.”

A long silence.

Then Laurel slowly looks at the chair, the books scattered everywhere, and the giant vase balanced between them.

Laurel: “Ollie…”

Hardy: “What?”

Laurel: “Where are we supposed to put it?”

Hardy looks around the room.

Hardy: “I was hoping you knew.”

And that was the exact moment they both realized they had spent ten minutes moving a vase without ever deciding where it was going.

Be honest — who would you trust with a fragile antique: LAUREL or HARDY?
