Sometimes, God speaks to us in ways we don’t understand until much later. Months ago, I started building something I believed families and caregivers needed. It wasn’t just a planner. I started creating SolCentra as a support system for seniors, caregivers, and families—a place for education, guidance, resources, trusted connections, and meaningful conversations. As a nurse, I had seen families leave the hospital and suddenly find themselves trying to understand medications, appointments, care options, and responsibilities they never expected to carry. I saw caregivers doing their best while trying to navigate a system they had never had to understand before. So I started building, thinking I was creating something that could make that journey a little easier for someone else.

I created a senior care planner. I started educating about caregiving and different care options. I started having conversations with caregivers and professionals, creating connections, and slowly building what I hoped could become an entire support ecosystem around seniors and the people who care for them. At the time, I thought I was doing all of this for other families. I had no idea that months later, caregiving would become personal for my own family, and that I would find myself reaching for the very resources I had created for someone else.

That moment made me look at everything differently. How could I have known that I would need something I had created months earlier? I didn’t. But God did. And maybe this is one of the ways God speaks to us. Sometimes He places something on our hearts long before we understand why. Sometimes He gives us an idea before we can see its purpose. Sometimes He asks us to begin building before we know who will need what we are building. And sometimes, while we think God is preparing us to help other people, He is quietly preparing us for a journey of our own.

I now understand caregiving from a different place. I still carry what I know as a nurse, but now I also understand it through the heart of a daughter and a family caregiver. There is a different kind of understanding that comes when the decisions, the uncertainty, the appointments, the waiting, the prayers, and the responsibility become part of your own life. I could have chosen to keep everything to myself, focus only on my family, and step away from what I had started. But instead, this season has given me an even deeper reason to continue.

Because somewhere, another family is beginning a journey they never expected. Someone is becoming a caregiver for the first time. Someone is searching for answers because they don’t know what to do next. Someone is trying to understand care options or simply wondering whether what they are feeling is normal. And maybe one conversation, one resource, or one person willing to share what they learned can make that road a little easier.

That is why I want to thank every person who has supported me and SolCentra Conversations. Thank you for watching, sharing my posts, encouraging me, answering my questions, and especially for trusting me with your stories and experiences. Please continue to share them, because we never truly know who may need to hear them. Something you learned during one of the hardest seasons of your life may become someone else’s roadmap. A story you almost didn’t tell may make another caregiver feel less alone. A conversation that seems small to you may reach someone at exactly the moment they need it.

That is what I hope SolCentra continues to become—not just my voice or my story, but a community and support ecosystem where our experiences, knowledge, resources, and connections can help seniors, caregivers, and families navigate what comes next.

I don’t know everything God has planned for this journey. But I do know that months before I understood why any of this would become so personal, He had already placed it on my heart to begin.

Sometimes God doesn’t show us the whole picture.

Sometimes He simply tells us to start. And later, we understand why.

Mom wants to stay home. 🏡

But what happens when she starts needing more help?

There may be support available without immediately changing where she lives.

Next: Let’s talk about In-Home Care—what it is, what it can provide, and what families should know.

A lot of families think in-home care and a care home are the same thing—but they’re not. 🏡

Both provide support, but in very different ways.

Let’s break it down next. 👀

You can love your parent deeply… and still feel tired.

You can be grateful for the time you have with them and still miss the life you had before caregiving became part of it.

You can want to help and still need help yourself.

Those feelings can exist at the same time.

Maybe we need to stop asking caregivers to simply “stay strong” and start asking them:

“How are YOU doing?”

If this feels familiar, you’re welcome to share your experience below—or send this to someone who may need to hear it today.

Moving into an Adult Foster Home? 🏡 Save this checklist.

Moving a loved one into a new care setting can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re trying to remember everything they may need.

Beyond medications, documents, clothing, and medical equipment, don’t forget the things that bring comfort and familiarity. A favorite blanket, family photos, familiar routines, or even a favorite mug can help a new space feel a little more like home. 🤍

And remember: every Adult Foster Home is different, so always ask the home what they provide and what your loved one should bring before move-in day.

💬 For caregivers and families who have gone through a move like this: What’s ONE thing you’re glad you brought—or wish you had brought?

Share it in the comments. Your experience might help another family preparing for the same transition. 🤍

Save this post for later or share it with a family who may need it.
